KAMPHAENG PHET— In a heartbreaking case that has deeply upset the local community, a mother with a known history of substance abuse and alcohol addiction has been arrested.
She is accused of causing the death of her 8-month-old son, affectionately known as Nong Bai Boon. The baby suffered fatal injuries after allegedly being thrown against a concrete wall and left in a wooded trash area near the family home in Khlong Khlung District.
The details of the infant’s death are deeply disturbing. Medical examiners conducted a thorough autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and to help police build a clear timeline of events. The results showed severe trauma, indicating a very heavy impact.
The official medical report confirmed the following injuries:
- A severely fractured skull.
- Torn lungs.
- Extensive bruising across the entire body.
These findings strongly align with the police investigation, which suggests the infant was thrown with extreme force. The horrific nature of these injuries has sparked outrage, anger, and deep sorrow across the local community in Kamphaeng Phet .
Community Gathers for a Tearful Goodbye
Today, June 1, family members, local village leaders, and grieving neighbors will gather to say their final goodbyes. In rural areas, communities often come together closely during such tragedies to offer mutual support. The cremation ceremony for the young boy, who lived for just 7 months and 13 days, is scheduled for 1:30 PM at Wat Ubekkharam in Hua Thanon Subdistrict.
In a moving show of support, the Saeng Sawan Foundation and the Nakhon Sawan Orphanage Foundation have stepped in to help. They are currently caring for the victim’s three older siblings. The foundations will bring the children to the temple today so they can attend their little brother’s funeral. The surviving children are:
- Nong Ter, an 8-year-old boy.
- Nong Peemai, a 6-year-old boy.
- Nong Chompoo, a 3-year-old girl.
Child welfare workers emphasize that providing a safe, stable environment for these surviving children is now the absolute top priority.
Police Investigation and Mother’s Charges
Law enforcement officers acted quickly following the tragic discovery of the child. The 26-year-old mother, identified as Ms. Sadipa (also known by her nicknames, Tan or Namtan), was immediately taken into custody.
Police have formally charged her with two serious offenses:
- Manslaughter (causing death through physical assault without the direct intent to murder).
- Engaging in behavior that poses a severe danger to people and society.
Investigating officers processed the necessary paperwork and officially transferred her to court custody for pre-trial detention on May 31. The Thai legal system takes crimes against children very seriously, and these specific charges carry heavy prison sentences.
Before the police moved her to the detention center, reporters had a brief chance to speak with Ms. Sadipa. They asked her about the events leading up to the tragedy and her feelings regarding the criminal charges.
When asked if she denied hitting her baby, she offered a partial admission. She claimed she only hit his arm while bathing him. However, she did express concern for her three other children, asking authorities to make sure they are well cared for.

A Call for Better Support Systems
Her comments about her husband revealed deep family tension and conflict. She told reporters she did not want to speak about him, stating that thinking about him only made her angry and annoyed. Finally, she made a promise that if she is eventually released from prison, she will never harm anyone again.
This tragic loss highlights the urgent need for better social support networks. Substance abuse remains a major driver of domestic violence. When parents struggle with addiction to drugs or alcohol, young children are often the ones who suffer the most.
Local leaders are urging neighbors to remain watchful and report suspected domestic abuse or child neglect to the proper child protection authorities immediately. Furthermore, police have promised a fully transparent investigation to ensure justice is served for the young victim.
Officers are currently gathering more evidence to fully understand the family’s living conditions. The loss of Nong Bai Boon is a dark reminder of what happens when vulnerable families fall through the cracks.
