How to Make a Hoop Wreath – You Can Do It!

How to make a hoop wreath When hoop wreaths first started popping up in my Pinterest feed, I wasn’t sure I liked them. They’re much plainer and simpler than a traditional wreath and a huge stretch away from a deco mesh wreath . But over time I’m kinda fallen in love with them. You won’t regret learning how to make a hoop wreath, in fact… you might find yourself making more wreaths than you have walls.  Earlier this spring I showed you how to make a hoop wreath using twine to wrap the hoop and fake tulips (check it out here – Tulip Hoop Wreath ).  That wreath was so fun and easy to make that I knew I had to make another one but this time I wanted to use an embroidery hoop instead of a wire hoop frame.  You ready to learn how to make your own simple hoop wreath? Keep reading for the full tutorial but don’t forget to watch the video at the end if you want to see it in action.

How to Make a Hoop Wreath

To make a hoop wreath you will need: *affiliate links*
  • a hoop – You can use an embroidery hoop or a metal hoo p (found in the floral section of the craft store)
  • wire
  • wire cutters
  • your choice of fake plants (I used one bunch of eucalyptus, one bunch of silver sage and part of a bush of roses)
making a hoop wreathStart by deconstructing your fake plant bunches if you’re not using singular fake flowers. You’ll also want to trim all the stems much shorter – about two inches below where you want the plants to stop being seen should be enough. Once your stems are trimmed, lay out the flowers to form how you want the wreath to look. simple hoop wreath instructionsNow you’re simply going to begin wrapping the stem onto the hoop using floral wire. It’s that simple. The only thing is that you need to work around any leaves, you don’t want them flat against the hoop because you’ve wrapped them up as well. using wire to make a hoop wreathOnce you have your first stem on, add the next stem where you want it to be and wrap it with wire. You don’t need to go super crazy with the wire! You just need it secure. When you’re going the opposite direction, tuck any stems that are too long behind the stems that are already wired down. wire wrapping around a hoop wreathThis is how the back of my wreath looked after I had added all of the greenery.  Next, you’re going to add the roses in the same way.  Wire their stems into the place where you want them to be. how to make a hoop wreath with wireAfter they were wired into place, there was one spot where you could see the wires and hoop so I simply added another spring of silver sage to that spot and all was hidden! If you flip the wreath over, you will see the wire but if this bugs you or makes you worried about scraping against a door, you can cover it by hot gluing a little felt over the back. After everything is wired into place, you’re done. It’s that simple.  DIY Hoop Wreath with rosesThis is a very quick and easy craft that would be great for a girls night out.  I’m so in love with it and I have friends on instagram that are already asking me for it if I don’t want to keep it.  Of course, I’m keeping it!  What do you think?
