Course Description
How equal is contemporary society? If it is not equal, in what ways is it not equal? This course explores how macro-social structures influence and constrain the life of individuals in the United States. Module 1 explores social determination and the overarching influence of capitalism on the social world. Module 2 examines how racial structures shape the experiences of Black people and Latinx immigrants in the US. Module 3 delves into intersectionality and queer theory.
