Upon his return from the Africa Diplomatic Tourism and Investment Forum (ADTIF) held in Maputo, Mozambique, late last month, the Executive Chairman of the African Tourism Board (ATB), Mr Cuthbert Ncube, emphasized a strong partnership to promote and market Africa.
Mr. Ncube declared the event an unparalleled success and emphasized the need for tangible, action-oriented partnerships aimed at accelerating regional integration and driving significant investment across the African continent.
The ATB statement released in the last week of August 2025, after the ADTIF in Maputo, Mr Ncube emphasized that the forum has successfully moved beyond mere discussion to forge tangible, action-oriented partnerships aimed at accelerating regional integration and driving significant investment across Africa.
Mr Ncube said that the Maputo forum had set a new benchmark for collaboration and showcased an unprecedented level of political will and business acumen.
The forum’s key activities included ministerial and diplomatic panels, curated Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Government (B2G) networking sessions.
Significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) signings were made to catalyze strengthening diplomatic relations and promoting collaborative initiatives for Africa investment development.
The ATB Chairman said that the focus is now on shifts to translating those commitments made at the Forum into concrete projects that will benefit all African communities.
“This is not just a triumph for tourism; it is a victory for the new Africa we are building together,” Ncube said.
The successful conclusion of the ADTIF event laid the groundwork for a clear path forward, reaffirming its crucial role in fostering sustainable economic growth and ensuring that the benefits are broadly shared across all member states.
ADTIF aimed to position Africa as a global tourism powerhouse and an attractive destination for investment, leveraging diplomacy to create a unified front for economic cooperation.
It came up with an emphasis on strengthening regional value chains and unlocking opportunities in sectors beyond tourism, such as infrastructure, energy, and digital transformation, which underscores a comprehensive approach to continental development.
The event’s achievements are seen as a significant step toward the ATB’s mandate to leverage strategic relationships and unify Africa’s efforts in positioning itself as a tourism destination powerhouse.
Ncube’s leadership and vision for tourism in Africa are centered on developing the sector as a major driver of job creation and cultural exchange, while promoting sustainable and responsible travel that benefits local communities.
ADTIF that took place from August 20 to 22 in Mozambican capital Maputo was organized in partnership with the African Tourism Board, the African Union and the Mozambican Ministry of Economy.
The three-day forum reflected an ambitious agenda that focused on critical areas of political and economic policy for the development and promotion of tourism in Africa through its sessions.
Mozambican Prime Minister Maria Levi has advised African governments to position tourism as a strategic pillar for enhancing and fast-tracking economic sovereignty and unity among the African states.
Through her speech to open the ADTIF in Maputo, the Mozambican Premier laid out a bold vision that will make tourism a strategic pillar for economic development and a potent instrument of diplomacy in Africa.
ADTIF 2025 stands as a crucial platform for expanding investment access, strengthening Africa’s economic diplomacy, and fostering deeper cooperation between African nations and the diaspora, the ATB statement said.
