If there were an Award for tourism resilience despite war, Israel would be at the top of the list to receive it.
Just days ago, Israel turned to the United States to join them in their war against Iran. Air corridors in the entire region stood idle, El Al planes were evacuated to “friendly countries.” Today, this is all history, and while countries from around the globe see Israel as a no-travel zone, while people die in Gaza every day, Israel wants business and tourism to return to the Jewish State.
The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem warns Americans in its Level 4 warning: Do not travel to Israel due to armed conflict, terrorism, and civil unrest. This country is taking a lead in global tourism resilience when Dani Shahar, the Director General of Israel Tourism, mass emailed the following message to Israel’s partner travel agencies in the U.S.
Dear Partners,I am reaching out to convey a clear, reassuring, and well-founded message that you may share with your clients, who may be hesitant about visiting Israel during this period.
Tourism in Israel is renewing itself with a firm commitment to traveler safety. Organized tours currently taking place throughout the country are conducted with uncompromising attention to safety, well-being, and traveler comfort.
At the Ministry of Tourism, we see this as a profound expression of trust — in our spirit and in our commitment to the safety of our guests.
The renewed activity is also reflected in flight schedules: leading international airlines have resumed their routes to Israel, and demand from visitors around the world is on the rise.
At this time, it is possible to visit Israel while maintaining the highest standards of a quality and safe travel experience. Tourist and heritage sites in Israel are open to the public, and Israeli tourism professionals are eagerly awaiting visitors.
The Ministry of Tourism continues to closely monitor developments in full cooperation with all relevant bodies. We are committed to transparency and ongoing communication with you — our partners in Israel and worldwide — and are happy to provide you with any information you may need.
On behalf of the Government of Israel, the Ministry of Tourism, and members of the Israeli tourism industry, I would like to strengthen your confidence and say clearly:
Israel is open, safe, and ready to welcome tourists from around the world — responsibly and warmly. We look forward to continuing to work together to promote safe and thriving tourism.
