Hong Kong Airlines is set to commence services between Hong Kong and Lijiang three times a week starting from 8 September 2025. As the only local airline serving this route, it will offer travelers a direct and convenient connection to discover this enchanting ancient city in Yunnan.
Situated in the northwestern region of Yunnan Province, Lijiang serves as a significant hub along the historic Silk Road and the Tea Horse Road. With its rich historical legacy, it has been recognized as a National Historical and Cultural City of China. Its distinctive high-altitude plateau renders it a highly desirable destination for both domestic and international visitors.
Lijiang is home to a plethora of famous attractions. Visitors can stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lijiang Old Town, where they can appreciate the well-preserved Naxi architecture dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Alternatively, they may choose to visit the impressive Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and enjoy authentic yak meat hotpot at its base.
For those who cherish the allure of ancient towns, exploring the quaint Shuhe Ancient Town or visiting Baisha Ancient Town, the oldest in the area, offers the chance to admire the exquisite Baisha Murals while taking in breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains. Additionally, Tiger Leaping Gorge, situated between Lijiang and Shangri-La, ranks among the deepest canyons globally and is a must-see attraction.
The new route will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, while the flight schedule is designed not only to suit the needs of leisure and business travelers, but also to facilitate convenient connections for transit passengers traveling on the airline’s long-haul routes, such as Sydney and Vancouver, thereby strengthening Hong Kong’s position as a leading international aviation hub.
