Henley & Partners , a global citizenship advisory firm, has recently unveiled its 2024 Passport Index, showcasing the most powerful passports worldwide. The list includes France , Germany , Italy , and Spain , all tied with the ability for their citizens to explore 194 visa-free destinationsout of 227 across the globe.
The Passport Index, an annual release by Henley & Partners, evaluates the strength of travel documents from various countries, assigning ranks based on their holders’ access to destinations without the need for a prior visa. The scoring system assesses each passport’s power by considering the total number of visa-free accessible destinations.
According to the index’s factsheet, the scoring methodology is designed to provide users with a practical and reliable overview of their passport’s strengths. A score of 1 is allocated for each destination that passport holders can access without requiring a visa. This includes instances where travelers can obtain a visa on arrival, a visitor’s permit, or an electronic travel authority (ETA) upon entry.
The annual Passport Index serves as a valuable resource for global citizens, offering insights into the relative strength and flexibility of passports for international travel.
