Naomi Osaka is out of the U.S. Open. The 18-year-old Leylah Fernandez stunned Osaka in the third round in her first match against the defending champion.

Fernandez, an unseeded left-hander from Canada, won 5-7, 7-6 (2), 6-4.

The upset came on the same court where Osaka became a global star by surprising Serena Williams to win the 2018 U.S. Open.
