An FCPS Program Offered to High School Juniors and Seniors Interested in Pursuing a Career in Education
Teachers for Tomorrow (TfT)is an approved Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) program offered to high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a career in education. The program is designed to attract high school students to the field of education through exposure to a world-class curriculum and hands-on experience that focuses on teaching.
- Courses Available: Level 1 and Level 2
Level 1fosters student interest, understanding, and appreciation of the teaching profession and allows secondary students the flexibility to explore careers in education based on the interests of the student. Students build a foundation for the structure and governance of teaching, how to apply professional teaching techniques in the classroom, and have the opportunity to participate in field experiences. This course is available to 11th and 12 graders only.
Level 2students continue to explore careers in the Education and Training cluster and pathways. The primary focus of the class is to act as the teacher applying teaching methods and strategies previously learned. This course allows students to prepare for careers in education as they research post-secondary options, learn about the teacher certification process, and participate in a practicum experience. This course is available to 12 graders only. The pre-requisite is the completion of Level 1.
