Academic Advising
Frost students will receive presentations on 1/13 & 1/14 from Woodson and Annandale counselors. Frost students will then complete a Course Planning Tool on 1/15 in Falcon Focus, through the submission of a google form. A copy of their responses will be emailed to them. This is a draft tool to help students begin to think about the courses they’d like to take, and prepare them for discussing their selections with their counselor. Students who are absent January 13-15 can access all resources through their Schoology - Student Services course.
All students will meet individually with their school counselor through science classes, and be given a paper course selection sheet. They will have one week to complete and return to their science teacher. Annandale students will complete online course selections. Please discuss course selection options with your student, and review their course selections carefully. Additional resources will be posted to Schoology to assist their course selection decisions. Every 9th grade student will take English, Science, History, Math, PE, and two year long elective courses. Students will also list alternate elective courses.
Counselors will make every effort to follow the schedule below, but some dates may need to be adjusted. The order in which students are seen will not impact the timing of their course requests. Students receiving services through Special Education will complete initial course selections with their counselor, and finalize course placements with case managers at spring transition IEP meetings.
