A Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

It has been another fantastic week of student work here at Bryant, and the energy on campus is electric as we enter the final week for the Class of 2026! A huge congratulations to our seniors as they approach their last day of classes on Friday, May 22. We are looking forward to a week of celebration, including our senior class trip to Dave & Busters on May 28 and graduation practice on May 29. Please remember that students must turn in their permission slips to the main office by Friday, May 22, to participate in the senior trip. We can’t wait to see our seniors enjoy this well-deserved time together!

As we near the big day, we want to ensure every family is ready for a seamless and joyful graduation ceremony. Our commencement will begin at 5:00 PM, and doors will open for guest security screenings starting at 4:15 PM. Please see below for additional logistical details, and thank you in advance for partnering with the Bryant staff to make this a truly special and memorable day for our graduates.

Finally, we are excited to offer Saturday School tomorrow (May 16) from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at both Bryant High School and Annandale High School. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to receive teacher support and wrap up any remaining assignments. Please note that students placed at Bryant by the Hearings Office must attend Saturday School specifically at the Bryant campus. We strongly encourage all our students to take advantage of this extra time to ensure they finish the school year with passing grades and a great sense of accomplishment!

New Cellphone Policy Starts July 1

On Thursday, May 7, the Fairfax County School Board approved changes to the FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) . The approved changes include updated guidance for cellphone possession and use, to align the FCPS cellphone policy with Senate Bill 108 . This new Virginia law goes into effect on July 1 and states that all schools in the Commonwealth must follow a “bell-to-bell” phone-free policy.

This means that starting July 1, 2026, across all grade levels at FCPS, student cellphones, phone accessories, and all smart devices (including watches that serve a dual purpose, such as smart watches, as well as earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, and other other items connected to the internet) must be off and personally stored (i.e., put away in backpacks) for the duration of the school day — thus, no cellphones from bell to bell.

High school students will no longer be able to use cellphones and personal devices during lunchtime.More details are available on the FCPS Cellphone Policy webpage

Other SR&R Changes for the 2026-27 School Year

Visit the FCPS website or the School Board agenda to learn about additional updates, including:

  • Added guidance and procedures for in-school and out-of-school suspensions and discipline investigations, including supports for students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
  • Expanded guidance and standardized disciplinary procedures (“Universal Grade Matrices”) related to harassment, hate speech, discriminatory behavior, and Title IX reporting requirements.
  • Responses to incidents involving intimate images, fighting, physical aggression, object throwing, and drug policy violations.
Student Bus Passes Offer Free Transportation

All Fairfax County middle and high school students can get a Student Bus Pass SmarTrip card to ride the Fairfax Connector and Fairfax CUE buses for free! With the pass, fares are free from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week, all year. Learn more about the Student Pass and access the application, which can be returned to the front office.

Additionally, our students can ride Metrobus for free. Visit the Fairfax County website for details and approved Metrobus routes and to access the application.

Greetings Bryant Families!

It was a fantastic week at Bryant as we celebrated our incredible teachers and staff! We want to extend a special thank you to the Fairfax County Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for providing a delicious Jimmy John’s lunch for our team. We were thrilled to shower our staff with gratitude and treats each day, and a reminder - appreciation doesn't have a deadline. If a staff member has made a difference for your student, you can recognize them any time of year through the FCPS Cares website .

We would like to give a shout out to our very own Mahatevy (Tevy) K. who participated in the FCPS Superintendent's Student Journalist Panel to discuss AI in Education.  It was a thoughtful conversation with Dr. Reid and Chief Technology Officer Gautum Sethi. Tevy's engaging question comes towards the end of the panel and can be seen in the video at the end of the FCPS article. (picture courtesy of FCPS Communications)

Looking ahead to this week, our students will be focusing on the WorkKeys Reading and Writing assessments as well as SOL make-ups. Our students have been doing a wonderful job staying focused and preparing for these assessments so they can finish the year strong. We truly appreciate your partnership in encouraging your child to get a good night’s rest each night so they can perform at their very best.

Lastly, please keep an eye out for an upcoming survey regarding our school communication. We want to hear from you about how you prefer to receive information, what is working well at Bryant, and how you believe we can continue to improve. We look forward to learning from your feedback so we can best meet the needs of our families and students!

Bryant High School and United Community Open House and Block Party

Join us in celebrating our staff next week during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week - May 4-8. We are grateful to have such caring and dedicated staff members!

A Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

What another incredible week! We have so much to celebrate as we head into the home stretch of the school year.

Our Class of 2026 took center stage this week as we cheered on their future plans. On Thursday, students personalized graduation caps with their post-grad goals, and today, the energy was high as they decorated Decision Day t-shirts and enjoyed some well-earned frozen treats. We are so proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see where their journeys lead!

The end of the year is truly when our students shine, showcasing the skills and creativity they’ve built all year long. A big shout-out to Dr. Waddell’s Construction Technology classes, who spent the semester crafting beautiful Adirondack chairs and stools to create a new seating area. For their end-of-year project, they are building a children’s playhouse for the United Community daycare, talk about building a legacy!

Lastly, next week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! Our educators and staff go above and beyond every day. Please join us in showering them with gratitude by sending notes or emails of thanks. We’ll also have a gratitude station set up each day during lunch so students can write their own "thank you" messages.

Let’s keep this amazing momentum going!

A Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

It is hard to believe that there are only 20 days left in this school year for our graduating Seniors! This coming week, we will have our Seniors take their SOLs beginning on Tuesday, April 28. It is important that students arrive on time so they can eat breakfast and get settled into school so they can perform at their best. I am excited to share that we will be able to offer our Seniors a class trip to Dave and Busters through a generous donation by Alice’s Kids . More information about the trip will be shared soon!

As I have shared in the past, one of our main goals is to have students attend school every day. Last year, 68% of our students were considered chronically absent, meaning the students missed 10% or more of the school year. As of today, 57.3% of our students are considered chronically absent. We are thrilled to have reduced chronic absenteeism by over 10.7% compared to this time last year! We are confident that, by working together, we can reach our final goal of 55% (or lower) by the end of the year. For more information about FCPS attendance please look at these resources .

Your child’s presence truly matters! If you or your student need any assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff at 703-660-2000 or email me at [email protected] . Thank you for your continued partnership and for supporting the Bryant High School community!

Students and staff enjoy our Career Fair on Thursday, April 16!

A Message from the Prinicpal

Greetings Bryant Families!

What a great week it has been for our staff and students! On Wednesday, April 15, our staff proudly participated in Purple Up! day to recognize our military-connected students and families. As a designated Purple Star school, we are grateful for the service and sacrifices of our military families and enjoyed the opportunity to show our support.

On Thursday we held our annual Career Fair, where students enjoyed an afternoon filled with guest speakers, networking with potential employers, and discovering valuable community resources. We were honored to host Danielle Craddock, who delivered the keynote presentation; thanks to her, every student received a copy of her book, Launchpad to Success: 21 Ways for Teens to Prepare for Their Dream Careers . To wrap up the day, students received a $20 Uber gift card and enjoyed popsicles together. We encourage you to ask your child about the vendors they met and which career paths sparked their interest.

Looking ahead to next week, our students will be taking the WorkKeys Reading and Writing assessments. These are important evaluations of our students' skills, and we want to ensure everyone is set up for success. Please help us by making sure your child gets plenty of rest and arrives at school on time so they can perform their best.

Finally, please remember that there is no school on Tuesday, April 21, due to the special election. We encourage students to take advantage of this mid-week break by completing any outstanding assignments and turning them in to their teachers. Thank you for your continued partnership in making this a successful school year!

Bryant Information Updates to 2026-27 School Year Calendar

The School Board voted to direct the superintendent to designate Veterans Day as a standard instructional day for the 2026-27 school year. Because this day was added, the 2026-27 school year will now end for students on Wednesday, June 16, 2027. Find additional information on BoardDocs . View the updated complete school year calendar on FCPS’ website.

The last day of school for the current school year — Wednesday, June 17, 2026— has not changed.

Support Your Children During Important Spring Assessments

Students will be participating in spring assessments based on their grade level and courses. This includes summative assessments like Standards of Learning (SOL) tests, which measure what a student knows, and progress assessments like Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests, which measure where they are in their learning.

FCPS encourages all families to support their students in taking these tests. Virginia requires schools to test at least 95% of students on SOLs, so when families choose not to participate in testing, it can impact a school’s accreditation, accountability ratings, and ability to measure student progress accurately.

Parents and caregivers can help their children perform their best on these tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and the cell phone policy still applies during testing season.

It is important that students attend school on scheduled testing dates. If you are aware of a conflict that may cause your student to miss a test, please notify your student’s school as soon as possible.

Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

Our students have successfully wrapped up the 3rd quarter, and I am thrilled to share that our chronic absenteeism rate continues to drop. Compared to this time last year, we are down by 8.7%. I want to extend a sincere thank you for your partnership in stressing the importance of daily attendance. As we head into the final quarter of the year, now is the time to push through and stay focused on our academic goals, as that finish line—the graduation stage on June 1—is quickly approaching for many of our students.

To celebrate our recent achievements and send everyone off into the break with a positive spirit, we held our monthly Wellness Day today. It was a wonderful afternoon where students were able to relax, enjoy snacks, and hang out with friends while engaging in creative activities like painting tote bags and creating diamond art mosaics on compact mirrors. It was the perfect way to recharge and celebrate our community’s hard work. We wish everyone a restful Spring Break and look forward to seeing all of our students back on campus on Tuesday, April 7.

A Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

As we approach the final week of the third quarter, I want to celebrate the incredible hard work our students have shown so far. This coming week is a vital time for our students to finalize their projects and complete performance-based assessments. To ensure every student has the opportunity to showcase what they’ve learned, please remember that every day matters. Being in class on time is the best way for students to stay caught up and ensure all work is submitted before the quarter closes. Please note that students will be dismissed early at 12:45 PM on Friday, March 27, to mark the end of the quarter.

Spring break will take place from March 30 through April 6, and we want to ensure this is a true time of rest for our entire community. To support this, students will not be assigned homework over the break, and there will be no quizzes or projects due on April 7 or 8. We have also asked our dedicated staff to take this time to recharge; they will be back in the building and ready to assist you when school resumes on Tuesday, April 7.

The fourth quarter begins as soon as we return. While we know that the warmer weather can make the end of the school year feel close, this final stretch is where the year's hard work truly comes together. We ask for your continued partnership in encouraging your students to attend school on time every day so we can finish the year strong. We look forward to a fantastic final quarter!

A Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

This week was filled with meaningful experiences for our students, from exploring career opportunities to giving back to our school community.

On Wednesday, several students traveled to the INOVA Conference Center in Fairfax to participate in the I2I Conference. While there, they were able to connect with potential employers representing more than 50 trade-related businesses and public works organizations. It was a great opportunity for students to learn about career pathways and practice making professional connections.

Back at school the same day, despite rapidly changing weather, students and staff partnered with Casey Trees to plant several trees on our campus. Casey Trees is a Washington, D.C.–based nonprofit organization whose mission is to grow the urban forest and educate students about the importance of trees. We are grateful for their generous donation, and the new trees will also support learning as our science teachers incorporate them into lessons throughout the year.

Looking ahead, we are just two weeks away from the end of the third quarter. Please take a few minutes to check ParentVUE with your student to ensure they are keeping up with assignments and turning in their work. ParentVUE provides access to your child’s attendance, grades, and discipline information. While in your ParentVUE account, be sure to review your child’s course selections and complete the Course Request Acknowledgment. For more information regarding the Course Request Acknowledgment, please see below. If you do not have a ParentVUE account, please contact the school for assistance with activating your account.

Lastly, I am excited to share that Bryant students will now have a warm and cold meal option to select from each morning for breakfast. Mondays and Fridays students will have a warmed bagel with cream cheese or cereal, Tuesdays and Thursdays they will have blueberry mini pancakes or a fruit and yogurt parfait and on Wednesdays, students can choose either a Maple Belgian Waffle or a Nutrigrain bar and string cheese. Students will also be able to select either juice or milk and fruit.

Greetings Bryant Families!

Bryant High School is incredibly fortunate to partner with outstanding organizations that provide food, clothing, and essential resources for our students. Today, I am excited to highlight a wonderful non-profit, Food for Thought-Fullness, run by Terry and Ramzy Peter. Terry and Ramzy personally manage this initiative, ensuring that all funds raised go directly toward providing "bags of hope" for Fairfax County families. These grocery bags are filled with proteins like canned meats and nut butters, shelf-stable milk, cereals, and healthy snacks that are easy for students to prepare. We are so grateful to Food for Thought-Fullness for their dedication to our community!

Speaking of incredible support, I am also pleased to share a recent FCPS “In the Spotlight” feature regarding our very own Director of Student Services (DSS), Mrs. Pipi Harrison. Mrs. Harrison first joined the Bryant community as a volunteer in 1996, and we are so thankful she chose to continue her journey here as a counselor and now as a DSS. She is a true force of support, constantly demonstrating caring acts of service, whether she is coordinating the WISH center for Saturday school, organizing food bag distributions, or seeking out new partners and donations to benefit our families. Thank you, Ms. Harrison, for being such an outstanding role model of service for our staff and students.

A Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

It was wonderful welcoming our students back to Bryant for this shorter week!

We’ve been busy helping students complete their make-up WIDA testing, and we truly appreciate your support in getting them to school to finish those up. Next week students will take the WIDA Speaking assessment—the final of the four parts. Because this is a scheduled one-on-one session, consistent attendance is essential. We appreciate your continued encouragement as our students work hard to show how much they’ve learned and grown this year!

On that note, we are focusing heavily on consistent attendancethis semester. Every student’s presence at Bryant High School truly matters to our school community—when they are here, they are learning and growing with us!

To encourage consistent attendance, if a student is absent and we haven’t received a note, parents/guardians will receive a quick notification via Talking Points. This is simply to keep you informed and help us ensure every student is accounted for.

Thank you for your partnership in getting our students to school on time, every day.

Bryant News and Information 2026 Inaugural FCPS Student Summit  Student Summit Planning Committee – Student Application

Is your child passionate about student voice and interested in helping design an event that represents students across FCPS? The FCPS Student Summit Planning Committee offers high school students in grades 9–12 the opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and help shape the first-ever FCPS Student Summit.

The Inaugural FCPS Student Summit will take place on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the New High School.  Registration to attend the summit will open on February 23, and transportation from each high school will be provided. Students who attend the summit will earn three hours of community service credit and receive a certificate of participation.

Planning Committee members will work together to create an engaging, student-centered summit by:

  • Bringing forward diverse perspectives
  • Sharing ideas and providing feedback
  • Supporting the Student Summit on the day of the event
  • Helping design meaningful experiences for students across the division

No prior leadership experience is required—just a willingness to participate, collaborate, and make your voice heard.

If your child is interested in representing Bryant High School, working alongside students from other FCPS high schools, and helping create an impactful event, we encourage them to apply.

Meditation and Silent Reflection - Updated Link!

In alignment with FCPS Regulation 1502, Bryant High School ensures that students and staff of all religious backgrounds have reasonable accommodations and access to meditation and silent reflection spaces within the school building. Students may request to use the space during the school day but may only request to use the space during instructional periods with parent permission. If you would like your child to have access to the Meditation and Silent Reflection Space during instructional time, please review and complete this Google form (new link) to provide parent permission.

New Visitor Management System

We are excited to announce that our school is now using the new Raptor Visitor Management System (VMS). This upgrade is part of our school’s and FCPS’ ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining the process for visitors at our school. The VMS ensures that no visitor is on the sex offender registry.

For most visitors, the user experience will be the same when you check in at the front office.

But now there is also an app, which can make check-ins even faster at school. Visitors who choose to download the RaptorSafe App and create a Raptor Passport can pre-verify their information before they get to school. The app will give you a QR code you can use when you check in at school.

If you have questions or need assistance with the new system, please contact our front office. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!

A Message from the Principal

Greetings Bryant Families!

It was wonderful to have our students back in school this week! We appreciate their flexibility as we adjusted schedules for delayed openings, WIDA testing, and assemblies. Due to the delays, we need to adjust our schedule on Monday, February 9, to complete our school-wide WIDA testing. Students will test in the morning and then attend classes after lunch.

On Wednesday of this week, students enjoyed a special Birds of Prey presentation by the Secret Garden Birds and Bees nonprofit. They saw three birds up close and learned about their habitats, hunting methods, and environments. Be sure to ask your student about this memorable experience!

Today, we celebrated our graduating seniors at the Senior Awards Ceremony. Students were recognized for their academic achievements and received awards and scholarships. Be on the lookout for next week’s graduation edition of our newsletter, which will highlight our February graduates.

Our graduation ceremony will take place on Wednesday, February 11 at 11:00 a.m.Underclassmen will notattend school that day. The ceremony will be livestreamed for family members who cannot attend in person. Please share the link with family members/friends who would like to watch the ceremony.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Take Care!
