What is NJHS?
Established in 1929, the National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier recognition program for middle school students. The NJHS represents those individuals who have distinguished themselves as outstanding in their schools and community.
NJHS is primarily an 8 th grade activity. Eligible 7 th grade students will receive an invitation to apply after the end of the 3 rd quarter should they have a cumulative GPA above a 3.5. Invitations for 7 th graders will go out in late April or early May. Students cannot earn NJHS hours until AFTER they have been accepted and inducted into the organization at the end of 7 th grade.
For current 8 th grade members, all 10 NJHS service hours must be VERIFIED in x2VOL by no later than 2:15 pm on Friday, May 15, 2026.
To maintain good standing in NJHS, 8th grade members must:
1. Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA
2. Complete a minimum of 10 service hours, maximum 15, at an FCPS school for an FCPS sponsored event.
3. Uphold the qualities of SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP, CHARACTER, CITIZENSHIP and Service
