Mrs. Ames joined the Columbia community in 2025. She has been teaching for 29 total years and in FCPS for 24 years as a classroom teacher, Reading Specialist, and Librarian. She graduated from Longwood College, George Mason for her reading masters, and Longwood University for her masters in school librarianship. She lived all over the world but always returned to her native Virginia. She enjoys cheering for her son in cross country for Justice HS. Other loves are spending time with her family, listening to music, George Kittle and the 49ers, John Cusack, fun fonts, hiking, friends, her dog Miss Truly Scrumptious, and obviously reading!! Be prepared if you ask her for book recommendations - she has trouble stopping.
