Here in the nation's capital, the beauty of our monuments and the bustle of city life are wonderfully interwoven with pockets of green. And at the heart of nurturing and expanding this vital urban forest are two dedicated organizations:  Re-Tree DCand  Casey Trees. Their commitment goes beyond simply planting saplings; they're also investing in the future by cultivating a love and understanding of trees in the youngest members of our community through engaging school programs.

Planting Seeds of Knowledge:

Re-Tree DC and Casey Trees recognize that fostering a lifelong appreciation for nature begins early. Their school programs are thoughtfully designed to be interactive, hands-on, and age-appropriate, bringing the wonders of the urban forest directly to students.

Laughter and teamwork filled the air as our enthusiastic 1st graders embarked on a special mission: planting new trees near our beloved playground and butterfly garden. This hands-on project provided an invaluable learning opportunity, as students collaboratively explored different gardening tools, learned the proper techniques for digging and planting young trees, and gained a tangible understanding of the crucial role trees play in our community's ecosystem. This early experience not only fostered a connection with nature but also instilled a sense of responsibility and the hope for a greener future, right outside their classroom door.
