Advanced Academic Programs

Lorton Station Elementary is a Full-Time Advanced Academic Center school, offering full-time advanced services to local and neighboring elementary students. Eligibility is determined through a central selection screening process, leading to a challenging instructional program in language arts, math, science, and social studies.

Additionally, Lorton Station offers the following Advanced Academic Services:
● Access to Rigor: All students engage in rigorous learning through the use of critical and creative thinking strategies, access to AAP curriculum lessons, and participation in enriching experiences such as our annual Spark Expo Science and Engineering Fair.
● Subject Specific Advanced Differentiation: Students identified by our local
Advanced Academic committee receive differentiated instruction in their area(s) of strength, delivered by the classroom teacher.
● Part-Time Services (Grades 3-6): Students identified by our local Advanced Academic committee receive advanced academic curriculum lessons in one or more content areas, with increased depth and complexity. Instruction is delivered by the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART).
