Meet our New Assistant Principal

The MVW team is excited to announce our new assistant principal, Mr. Kevin Heron!

Mr. Heron was born in Washington, DC and lived there for a short time. As a Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) graduate, Mr. Heron spent his childhood weekdays in Northern Virginia and weekends in Warrenton. He graduated of George Mason, Marymount University, and, most recently, University of Virginia. Last August, he and his wife, Kat, along with their two daughters, Aylor (5) and Augusta Rae (1.5), moved to Alexandria from Ashburn. 

After many years of substitute teaching and coaching in FCPS,  Mr. Heron began working as a classroom teacher in the Fall of 2014. His first teaching assignment was in 5th grade at Dogwood ES (Reston)  then 4th grade at Hutchison ES (Herndon). After being a classroom teacher, he became an Instructional Coach and then worked for the Office of School Support as a Region Educational Specialist, supporting the 43 schools in Region 5.  

In his free time, Mr. Heron love watching DC sports, trying to perfect BBQ recipes, and fishing.

He is excited to continue to meet the wonderful MVW staff, get to know every Panther, begin partnering with the community members, and call "The Woods" home!
