ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS
Outcomes
5 percentage points from the spring 2025 rate (54%) to spring 2026. The unadjusted pass rate for SWD on the Reading SOL will increase by 29 percentage points from the spring 2025 rate (23%) to spring 2026 (52%).
The unadjusted pass rate for all students (grades 6-8) on the Reading SOL will increase by 26 (79%).
Strategies
Increase the efficiency of instructional delivery to ensure all students have access to both explicit instruction and daily practice in reading and writing (ex. classroom walkthroughs, CT planning, coaching).
Improve integrity of implementation of core curriculum: tailoring instruction to meet student needs aligned with evidence-based literacy instruction (ex. classroom walkthroughs, CT planning, coaching).
Increase teacher pedagogical skills in evidence-based literacy instruction to improve implementation of the core curriculum (ex. explicit instruction, student discourse).
SUCCESS IN ALGEBRA BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL
OutcomesBy June 2026, the percentage of Hispanic students passing the Algebra 1 SOL will increase from 69% to 90%.
By June 2026, the percentage of 8th grade students who qualify for verified credit will increase from 41% to 60%.
Strategies
Increase teachers' implementation of strategies and conversation structures that increase academic talk between students related to Shift 4: from show and tell to share and compare.
Improve the integrity of implementation of core curriculum, and/or intervention programs by using FCPS-adopted resources with fidelity to align with the Framework for Engaging & Student-Centered Mathematics Instruction.
Increase systems of support during the school day, after school, and summer to help students achieve success in mathematics.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRESS
Outcomes
By the end of Spring 2026, the percentage of multilingual learners making VDOE WIDA Growth as measured by the WIDA ACCESS will increase by 6 percentage points from 54% to 60%.
Strategies
Build teacher expertise in language development and high-impact instructional practices for MLs (e.g., GLAD, SIOP, structured talk).
Establish and incorporate progress-monitoring routines to analyze the results of the FCPS ELD common assessments or Summit K12 assessments to monitor progress and revise students’ language goals and guide instructional decisions during tier 1 and tier 2 (additional language support)."
CHRONIC ABSENTEEISM
Outcomes
By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, Poe staff will utilize Tier 1 programming and targeted interventions to reduce chronic absenteeism from 14.2% in the 24-25 school year to 12.0% or lower as measured by number of full day absences.
Strategies
MTSS Schoolwide and Site Intervention teams analyze attendance, behavior, and wellness data twice a month to evaluate implementation of Tier 1 SEL/wellness initiatives and identify students in need of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. Integrate consistent analysis of data disaggregated by student groups (race/ethnicity, SWD, ML, FRM).
Identified time in the master schedule is used to implement Morning Meeting (ES) or Responsive Advisory Meeting (MS/HS) with fidelity to improve student perceptions of belonging."
SCIENCE
Outcomes
By the end of SY25-26, Science SOL scores for all students will increase 28 percentage points from the Spring 2025 test which is currently at 47% to the Spring 2026 to a pass rate of 75% as measured by the SOL pass rate
Strategies
Increase frequency of student learning experiences that are inquiry-based and hands-on through the use of centrally-developed curriculum resources.
Increase opportunities for students to apply and demonstrate understanding of vocabulary through evidence-based arguments and reasoning, such as the Claim-Evidence-Reasoning approach.
Increase opportunities for English Language Development through use of embedded strategies during whole group instruction and intentional small group instruction focused on specific student needs."
