Supporting Your Child's Learning with Technology at Home
💻 Home Tech Support: Important Information
We are now allowing students to take their assigned laptops or tabletshome and bring them back to school the next day.
Taking the device home is not required. If you prefer your child to use their device only at school, please simply inform your child's teacher.
Your child can also use your personal family laptop(kinder and preK students can also use ipads) to access classroom educational sites at home. You can find helpful login information on this page to help your students access these digital tools.
Thank you for helping your child use these school devices and/or digital tools to continue their education outside of the classroom!
A few key reminders:
- Devices must be returned to school every school dayto ensure students can participate in classroom activities.
- Families are responsible for lost, stolen, or broken school equipment.

🔑Student Usernames and Passwords
To help your child get started, their usernameis their student ID number.
Your child's student ID numberis printed on the card attached to their school-issued device (laptop or iPad). This ID number is their FCPS username.

Your child may see this FCPS sign-inscreen appear when they use their device.
They should enter their username, which is their student ID numberin the top box and their passwordin the bottom box. Their passwordis the same password they use to log into their laptop.

Logging into Google Chromeand Clever
- Students use their ID number followed by @fcpsschools.net(e.g., [email protected] ) to log into Google Chrome on their device.
- Their passwordfor Google Chrome and Cleveris the same password they use to log into their laptop.
- Once they are signed into Google Chrome, they can access Clever. Clever is the portal they use to access most of their digital learning tools, such as Lexia.

🪫Laptop Chargers
For parents needing to replace a student's laptop charger or wishing to purchase a second one for home use, please ensure the replacement is the correct model. A convenient link is provided below. You are, however, welcome to purchase a compatible charger from any vendor.

Clever is the main portalyour student will use to access most of the digital learning tools assigned in class. This includes Lexia, ST Math, iXL, Summit K12, and many others!

One Option: Free MiFi Hotspots
One resource we offer is a MiFi mobile hotspot device.
- What it does:The MiFi provides a mobile Wi-Fi signal for up to five devices(laptops, tablets, etc.).
- Purpose:It's intended to support school-related activities only.
- Filtering:To keep students focused on learning, the connection is filteredto block recreational uses like streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), matching the filtering used in schools.
🏠Guidelines for Device Take-Home
Device Care
- Students should transport devices in their backpacks each day
- Devices should be shut downafter use. This saves battery life.
- Devices will be used for instructional purposes only. (Students should only be using the FCPS-approved websites they use at school).
- Please help your child develop a routine for using the device and bringing it back to school in the mornings.

If Something Goes Wrong
- Device damaged or not working?Contact the school the next day.
- Families will be responsible for replacing lost, stolen, or damageddevices.

🔦Monitor Your Child's Internet Use with Lightspeed Parent Tools

Use Lightspeed parent tools to monitor use at home and to pause access to the internet during non-school hours.
Lightspeed will also automatically send parents and caregivers a weekly report summarizing your child's internet use on their school device.
