What's in the Streaming Media Collections?

Streaming media collections have video or audio resources. 

FAQs About Library Streaming Media:

  • Can I download videos or audio tracks?
    • Videos and audio tracks are not available for download. You need an active internet connection to watch videos or play audio tracks in the Library collections.
    • Music & Dance Online also includes scores. Scores are available for printing.
  • Are transcripts or closed captions available?
    • The Library video collections have both transcripts and closed captions.
      Transcripts can be downloaded from Films on Demand and the Sage collections: Counseling & Psychotherapy, Education, Social Work, Practical Research, and Research Methods. 

Video Collections

Advanced Search Options in Films on Demand

  1. Click Advanced Search.

  1. Enter a very general topic, or leave the search fields blank to browse all.

Filters:

  • Filter menus allow you to limit your search by specific criteria.
  • Each filter has a drop down menu of options.

  • "Type" limits by the kind of film a video is, such as animated or an interview.
  • "Producer" limits the search to a specific company.
  • "Language" limits the spoken language of the video.
  • "Subject" limits to subjects assigned to the video by Films on Demand.
  • "Copyright date" limits to how old a video may be.
  • "Format" directs your search to show all individual segments of videos or just complete videos or series.

You can also use the checkboxes under Advanced Filters to limit to only videos with closed captions, interactive transcripts, or videos that have educator resources.

Searching in Music & Dance Online

  • Music & Dance Online has many options to browse though content by type, subject, performers, or collections of like items such as "Classical Performance in Video".

  • Advanced search includes a keyword search, or the option to search specific fields such as title or performer.

advanced search options: anywhere, full text, title, author, performer, subject, location, performer. there are a number of options under subject: topic, person discussed, cultural group, and historical event.

  • The advanced search can help you select the correct terms.
    • Click "Select terms".
    • A popup window will allow you to scroll through the available options, correctly phrased for how this database has labelled items.
    • Check the box next to each term you want to include.

  • Additional filters include the date, location, and format. You can also limit to only primary or secondary sources.

Searching or Browsing in PsycTherapy

  • You will need to agree to the content use rules each time you enter PsycTherapy. 
  • You can search a general term in the search box.
  • You can browse the videos by using the main "Browse By" buttons.

  • After choosing a browsing option or entering a search term you can use the filter menu to narrow down your results.

Browsing in Sage Video Collections

  • The videos in Sage Video are organized by topic for easy browsing.

  • A search box is also available, as well as playlists for different topics.

Searching or Browsing in Sage Research Video

  • Sage Research Video will open with all the videos in a list.
  • You can browse the videos by using the filters to narrow down the list.

  • Use "Search within results" at the start of the filter menu to search just the video collection. Using the search box at the top of the page will search all Sage Research content, including books and cases.
