Use Smart Commands

Important:Smart Commands works on Voice Access version 6.0 and later (English only). If you have the most recent version of the Voice Access app, this feature is turned on by default.

You can use natural language commands to send messages to your contacts on most messaging apps.

You can use this feature to send messages instead of numbered labels or a grid to navigate your device screen.

Use Smart Commands with messaging apps

Important:This feature is only available in English.

To send a message with WhatsApp:

  1. If you haven't already done so, install the Voice Access app and turn it on .
  2. On your Android device, say “Open WhatsApp,” “Send a message to John,”“I will be late.”

Tip:You can also combine one or more steps into a single longer sentence like “Send a message to John on WhatsApp saying I’ll be late.”

To display a list of currently supported messaging apps and available commands:

  1. On your Android device, say  “Show commands,”“Smart Commands (beta).”
