- To use a Gem in the side panel, your organization’s administrator must turn on access to Gemini for Google Workspace Alpha.

To use Gems with Gemini in Google Drive:
- On your computer, go to drive.google.com .
- At the top right, click Ask Gemini
.
- In the side panel click on More options
Gems.
- Click the Gem you want to use.
- Select a custom or premade Gem.
- To start a conversation with a Gem, at the bottom, enter a question or prompt.
Tip:To create a Gem, go to gemini.google.com . You can then use your Gem in the Gemini app and Gemini side panel. Learn how to use Gems in Gemini Apps .
