Customize Auto optimize experiments for your site

Auto optimize settings give you more control over the optimization experiments that Google runs on your behalf. You can customize Auto optimize settings for each of your sites.

Select traffic

This setting lets you select the percentage of your users that you want to show optimization experiments to.

Note: If your experiment is visible to too few users, it may impact your results.

To select your traffic percentage:

  1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
  2. Click Ads.
  3. In the table of all your sites, click EditEditnext to the site for which you want to select the traffic percentage. Your site opens in the "Ad settings preview".
  4. Click Auto optimize.

    Note: AdSense doesn't show a preview of your site when you select the Auto optimizetab.
  5. In the "Experiment traffic" section, use the slider to select the percentage of your traffic you want Auto optimize to run experiments on.
    Tip: We recommend selecting 50% of your traffic.
  6. Click Apply to site.

    Your changes are applied to future experiments.

Block an experiment

You can use this setting to remove the optimization experiment types that you don’t want on your site. 

Example: Vignette ads and anchor ads

To block an experiment type:

  1. Sign in to your AdSense account.
  2. Click Ads.
  3. In the table of all your sites, click EditEditnext to the site for which you want to block experiments. Your site opens in the "Ad settings preview".
  4. Click Auto optimize.

  5. Click Blocked experiments.
  6. In the "Blocked experiments" section, select the types of experiments you want to block.
  7. Click Apply to site.

    Your changes will be applied to future experiments.
