The steps for exporting campaign data from advertising platforms for import into Google Analytics are different based on the specific platform being used.
This article provides the instructions and resources for the various platforms that are supported. Given that these platforms don’t necessarily supply data using the same format that is native to Analytics, it’s up to you to ensure that the data you export from these platforms is consistent with the format Analytics expects. To use LinkedIn’s Campaign Manager to export campaign data:
- Navigate to the Campaignsor Reportingsection, which is typically your main dashboard.
- Set your date range. 12 months is recommended.
- Click Export.
- Customize the columns to include the following required and recommended dimensions and metrics:
- Date (Required)
- Campaign Name and/or Campaign ID (Recommended if used in your UTMs)
- Amount Spent (Cost)
- Clicks
- Impressions (optional, but recommended)
- Select the Daily Time Breakdownso each row represents a single day's performance for a specific campaign.
- Click the Exportbutton to download the file.
- Verify the format of exported fields, especially Date which is expected to be ISO 8601: YYYY-MM-DD.

To use Meta Ads Manager to export your data:
- In Ads Manager, navigate to your Ads Reportingsection.
- Set your date range. 12 months is recommended.
- Add the “Breakdown” by date, ensuring this is by day.
