In areas with weak cellular service, you can make calls over Wi-Fi on your Android phone with Google Fi.
Important:Settings and features may vary by device.
- Open the Google Fi app.
- To turn on a user’s Wi-Fi calling, tap a Profile picture.
- Scroll to "Phone settings."
- Tap Wi-Fi calling.
- Turn on Wi-Fi calling.
When you make a call:
- If both Wi-Fi and cellular networks are available, Google Fi routes the call over the network that gives you the best experience.
- If your Wi-Fi connection weakens or drops, Google Fi automatically switches the call to a cellular network. This maintains your conversation without interruption.
Tips:
- To check Wi-Fi calling rates from outside the US, go to Call Phones calling rates .
- If you encounter issues with Wi-Fi calls, make sure the Carrier Services app is updated.
- To check, search for “Carrier Services" in Google Play, and tap Update.
Go back to the Google Fi Learning Center .
