Get weather and forecast information

Get the the current weather and upcoming forecast using only your voice with your Google smart speaker or display.

Step 1. Manage your weather settings

You must set the following location and weather preferences in the Google Home appto get relevant weather information:

  1. Set your device address .
  2. Set your preferred weather unit .

Step 2. Ask for weather information

Be specific with your query to get the correct weather information.

  • "Hey Google, how is the weather?" Your speaker or display will provide weather information from your  device address .
  • "Hey Google, what is the weather in Mountain View?” Your speaker or display will provide weather information from the location you specified.

Here are some ways to talk with your voice assistant on your speaker or display about weather and forecasts:

If you're using Gemini for Home voice assistant
To do this:
Say "Hey Google," then:
Ask for the current weather at your device's home address
"What's the weather?"
Ask for the weather forecast at your device's home address for:
  • Tomorrow
  • Specific day
  • Weekend
  • Week
  • Next [number] days (choose up to 10 days)
"What's the weather tomorrow?"
"What's the weather for [specific day]?"
"What's the weather this weekend?"
"What's the weather for the next [number] days?"
"What will the weather be like between [day] and [day]?"
Ask specific questions about the weather or forecast at your device's home address
"Is it going to rain tomorrow?"
"Is it sunny today?"
"Will I need an umbrella tomorrow?"
Ask specific question about weather or forecast in a certain location for:
  • Tomorrow
  • Specific day
  • Weekend
  • Week
  • Next [number] days (choose between 1-10 days)
"Will it rain tomorrow [in location]?"
"What's the weather this weekend [at location]?"
Ask for general weather in a certain location
"What's the weather [in location]?"
Specify unit
"What's the weather in [unit]?"

Ask for a forecast in 2 locations for a certain date

“What’s the weather in [location] and [location] on [date]?”
If you're using Google Assistant
To do this:
Say "Hey Google," then:
Ask for the current weather at your device's home address
"What's the weather?"
Ask for the weather forecast at your device's home address for:
  • Tomorrow
  • Specific day
  • Weekend
  • Week

(Optional) Get weather forecasts for your places of interest

If you’d like to receive weather forecasts for places of interest outside of your device address , set up Voice Match and personal results . You’ll get updates for significant changes in the weather in places you may be interested in visiting in the next few hours.
