In order to explore possible updates to the real money gambling, games and contests policy, Google Play may conduct limited-time pilots for selected game types, subject to additional Terms and Conditions.
There are currently no active pilots on Google Play.
Past pilots
Japan: The online crane games pilot in Japan ended on 11 July 2023. Effective from 12 July 2023, online crane game apps may be listed on Google Play subject to certain requirements and applicable laws. For details, see online crane games .
India: The Google Play pilot program for DFS and Rummy apps in India ended on 28 September 2023, which was followed by a grace period for pilot apps to remain on Google Play. As of January 22, 2026, the pilot grace period is no longer in effect . Apps that were previously in the pilot can only remain on Google Play in India after this date if they remove any real-money functionality and are compliant with Google Play’s policy on Real Money Gambling, Games and Contests .
Mexico: The Google Play pilot for daily fantasy sports (DFS) in Mexico concluded on 4 June 2026. Real-money gaming and gambling apps can still be offered on Google Play in Mexico, provided they comply with Play’s real-money gambling, games and contests policy and are one of the allowed game types for Mexico .
