Google Play gift cards come in various types. You can get physical Google Play gift cards from authorized retail stores and digital gift cards (also referred to as gift codes) by email, SMS, or other methods, depending on availability.
You can also get Google Play promotion codes from certain events or support interaction, which can be added to your Google Play balance or give you benefits for specific apps.
Restrictions & limitations

Country & currency restrictions
Play gift cards should be obtained from authorized retail partners for each region. Learn where to buy Google Play gift cards . Play gift cards may only be redeemed and used in the country and currency in which they were purchased.
The country or region listed in your Google Play account must match the country or region where the gift card or promotional code is offered. If you recently moved to another country or region and want to redeem gift cards, you may need to change your Google Play country. If you change your Play country, the redeemed Play balance does not get transferred and will be available for use in the original country it was redeemed in.
Age restrictions
Play gift cards and play balance may only be used by persons who meet the age requirement in their region, as set forth in the relevant Terms of Service .
Tip:If you’re a parent or guardian who wants to purchase content for a minor, you may use a family group with a credit or debit card as the family payment method. Important: As of September 19th, 2023, ¥1,500 and ¥15,000 Google Play gift cards are no longer available for purchase. You can continue to redeem ¥1,500 and ¥15,000 gift cards purchased before this date, and use your Google Play balance with no expiration.
Important:As of June 15, 2025, Google Play Gift Cards are no longer available for purchase in Malaysia. Google Play Gift Cards and prepaid Play Balance will expire on January 31, 2026. You will need to spend any remaining Play Balance by that date. If you have unredeemed Gift Cards, you'll need to first redeem them to your Play Balance and spend it by that date to avoid losing the value of your Gift Card. Learn more .
