Important:
- To view a live stream, you must be in the same organization as the meeting organizer or identified by the Workspace Admin as a Trusted Workspace sub-domain. Reach out to your Workspace Admins to set up Cross Domain live streaming .
- As a live stream viewer, you can’t turn on or enable your camera or microphone on the live stream.
Tip:To watch the event later, ask the meeting organizer if a recording is available. The live stream can only be watched while being aired live.
Watch a live stream event
To watch a live stream event, you can:
- Click the live stream link in the Google Calendar event or an email.
- Click the meeting link. In the green room and under “Other joining options,” select Watch the live stream

- Watch from a Google Meet hardware compatible meeting room that has been added to the Google Calendar event. Learn how to add room to an event .
When you watch a live stream event, you can:
- Send reactions .
- Answer polls and Q&As .
- Adjust volume.
- Add captions.
- Set the received video quality.
- Switch to full-screen mode.
- View and send chat messages if the host permits sending.
To display live stream info:
- At the bottom right of the screen, click Live stream details
.
- On the right side panel, the live stream info displays.
Switch from viewing a live stream to send audio and video as a contributor
If you're watching a live stream for an adaptive meeting where the host has also invited you to the meeting as a contributor, you can quickly switch roles yourself if needed. As a contributor, you can use your camera and microphone to participate.
- On your computer, go to Google Meet .
- Join a live stream.
- On the left side of the call, hover to the live streaming badge
.
- Click Leave and join the call.
- On the confirmation message, click Leave.
- In the main call's green room, click Join now.
Enable captions on your live stream
The language of the live stream captions are predetermined by the host.
To display captions:

At the bottom, click Turn on captionsor Turn off captions.
