Why this issue is happening

For one or more of your products, there is a mismatch between the price [price] attribute value provided in your product data source and the corresponding values on your vehicle description page. If these mismatches aren't corrected, your account may be suspended.

A price mismatch occurs when the price displayed on your vehicle ad is not the same as the price on your website. When shoppers click on your ad and find a different price on your website, they may not complete the purchase and you would be paying for wasted clicks.

To avoid this, your account has been warned/suspended because price mismatches were found between your product data and vehicle description pages for one or more offers.

You should have received an email asking you to update your product data by a certain date so that the values in your product data are consistent with those on your vehicle description page.

Some common reasons for price mismatch include:

  • The price provided in your data source doesn't match with the most prominent or final price displayed on your vehicle description page (VDP) for the selected dealership location.
  • Price needs to be visible on the vehicle description page of your website. For “New” vehicles, vehicle MSRP must be present on the vehicle description page.
  • If a sale has started or ended, ensure that the price has been updated in your product data source.
  • Region specific guidance
    • [For new cars in Canada]
      • The all-in advertised price should include the cost of any accessories attached to the vehicle, environmental levies, extra warranty, fuel, freight, pre-delivery inspection (PDI), dealer fees for handling licensing, provincial regulatory fees, miscellaneous dealer charges for security etching and nitrogen tire fill, and factory-to-customer or dealer-to-customer discounts or incentives.
      • The all-in advertised price shouldn’t include sales tax, licensing (the cost of the plate and registration), any trade-in, or costs associated with vehicle financing.

Investigate your update process to check what could be causing the problem:

  1. Check the warning email for examples of products that are affected.
    • Look for a common problem in your product data that could cause these mismatched prices.
    • Make sure you update your vehicle description page and product data at the same time.
    • Schedule an upload or use the Content API to immediately update your product data. This scheduling helps make sure Google has the same data as is on your vehicle description page.
  2. After you address the problem, update the price [price] attribute in your product data to match your vehicle description page.
