You can manage how your apps sync messages, email, and other recent data in your Google Account.

How sync works
When your phone or tablet syncs, your Google apps refresh their data, and you get notifications about updates.
Which apps sync
- By default, your apps made by Google automatically sync with your Google Account.
- For the individual apps made by Google, you can turn auto-sync on or off.
- Whether other apps can sync varies by app.
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap About phone Google Account Account sync.
- If you have more than one account on your device, tap the one you want to sync.
- Get a list of your Google apps and when they last synced.
Important: If an app doesn’t show in your phone or tablet’s Settings app under "Accounts," it can’t auto-sync with your Google Account.

How to turn off auto-sync
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Passwords, passkeys & autofill.
- If you have more than one account on your device, tap the one you want to sync.
- Tap Account sync.
- Turn off the apps you don't want to auto-sync.
Tip:When you turn off auto-sync, it doesn't remove the app. It simply makes sure the app won’t automatically refresh your data.
How to manually sync your account
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap About phone Google Account Account sync.
- If you have more than one account on your device, tap the one you want to sync.
- Tap More Sync now.
Tip:When auto-sync is turned off, manual sync refreshes your account data for all your apps made by Google.
