Manage playlists in YouTube Studio

Learn how to create, edit, manage, and filter your playlists in YouTube Studio to engage with your audience.

Notes:

This feature may not be available with supervised experiences on YouTube .
There's a limit to how many public playlists a channel can create each day across YouTube Music, YouTube main app, and the YouTube API. You can increase your daily limit by gaining access to advanced features. Learn more .

Create a playlist

To create a new playlist,

Sign in to YouTube Studio .
In the top-right corner, click CREATE New playlist.
Enter a playlist title and description.
Use the drop-down box to select your playlist's visibility setting.
Choose how videos are going to be arranged on the drop-down menu next to it.
Click ADD VIDEOS.
Click CREATE.

Playlist titles have a character limit of 150 characters
Playlist titles cannot include invalid characters ("<", ">", and the line separator "\u2028")
Playlist descriptions have a limit of 5,000 characters
Playlist descriptions cannot include invalid characters ("<", ">", and the line separator "\u2028")

Manage a playlist

To manage your playlist,

Sign in to YouTube Studio .
From the left Menu, select Content.
Click the Playliststab.
Hover over the playlist description of the playlist you’d like to updateclick Menu.
Select Edit on YouTube. Your playlist will open in a new tab.
- To sort videos in a playlist:Drag and drop the video up and down to reorder.
- To share a playlist:Go to your playlist details and select Share. Then, choose where you’d like to share the playlist.
- To add collaborators:Go to your playlist details and click the More Collaborate.
- To add videos to a playlist:Go to your video details and select More Add videos. You can add a video from search, URL, or your library.

Note:You can also change your privacy setting .

Edit a playlist title or description

To update your playlist’s details,

Sign in to YouTube Studio .
From the left Menu, select Content.
Click the Playliststab.
Hover over the playlist description of the playlist you want to updateclick Details, and update as needed.
Click SAVE.

Tip:

Playlist titles have a character limit of 150 characters

Add a translation for your playlist title and description

Note:You may have to complete a one-time verification process before you can use advanced features.

To add a language for translations of your playlist title and description:

Sign in to YouTube Studio .
From the left Menu, select Content.
Click the Playliststab.
Hover over the playlist description of the playlist you want to updateclick Detailson the left-side menu, click Languages.
Click the “Set language” drop-down boxselect your playlist’s default language.
On the right side of the screen, click Add languageselect the language you’d like to add a translation.
Add translations for title and descriptionclick Update.

To select the language for your playlist title and description:

Sign in to YouTube Studio .
From the left Menu, select Content.
Click the Playliststab.
Hover over the playlist description of the playlist you want to updateclick Details.
Under “Language”, use the drop-down box and select your preferred language.
Click SAVE.

Filter a playlist

To find a playlist easily, use a filter to narrow down your search:

Sign in to YouTube Studio .
From the left Menu, select Content.
Click the Playliststab .
Use the filter barand enter keywords to filter your playlists by title.

Turn a playlist into a podcast

To turn an existing playlist into a podcast,

Sign in to YouTube Studio .
Go to Content Playlists.
Hover over the playlist you want to designate as a podcast.
Click Menu Set as podcast.
Review your podcast’s details and add a square podcast thumbnail. Podcast details include title, description, and who can view your podcast on YouTube.
Click DONEto confirm your changes.

Remove podcasting features from a playlist

To remove podcasting features from your playlist,

Sign in to YouTube Studio .
Go to Content Playlists.
Hover over the playlist you want to unset as a podcast.
Click on the Menunext to the podcast you want to remove features from.
Select Set as playlist .
Click YESto confirm.

View playlist analytics

For each of your playlists, you can access the Overview, Content, Audience, and Revenue tab to find insights aggregated together for all your videos in the playlist. Learn how to access your playlist analytics.
