You can create and edit content with AI in the YouTube Create app.

Generate a video with Veo

Generate video for shots you didn’t get with an experiential AI-generated feature with the YouTube Create app. With Veo in YouTube Create, you can generate vertical video clips while controlling the lighting and style to simply get the shot you need.

Note:

  • Veo on YouTube Create is currently available on mobile devices in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the United States.
  • Prompts must be in English.
  • Currently, Veo is only available for certain AI-generative tools. Learn more about Veo .
  1. Open the YouTube Create app.
  2. You can access the feature in multiple ways:
    • From the homepage banner.
    • From the editor, tap Addto add a new video to the timeline and select the option to generate a new clip.
    • From the editor, select the option to generate a new clip when adding an overlay.
    • From the tool in the bottom navigation of the editor, tap Generate video.
  3. Enter a text prompt describing the video you want to create. You can also tap one of the suggested prompts.
    • Note:The upper limit for a prompt is 900 characters.
    • To use specific visuals, tap Addand upload up to 3 reference images from your gallery.
  4. Customize your prompt by adding:
    • Style:Choose from 11 predefined styles (e.g., Photorealistic, Vintage Film, Claymation). 'Photorealistic' is the default.
    • Lighting:Choose from predefined options like Soft morning light, Golden hour, Blue hour, or Moonlight.
    • Audio:Describe the audio and sound effects you want in the text prompt.
    • Aspect Ratio:9:16 (Portrait–default).
  5. Tap Generate.
  6. To add the clip to your timeline, tap Use Video.

Generate an image with Nano Banana

You can use text prompts and reference images to create new images with Nano Banana in the YouTube Create app.

Note:This feature is currently available to users over 18 on mobile devices in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, and the United States. Prompts must be in English or Hindi.
  1. Open the YouTube Create app.
  2. You can access the feature in multiple ways:
    • From the homepage banner.
    • From the editor, tap Addto add a new video to the timeline and select the option to generate a new image.
    • From the editor, select the option to generate a new image when adding an overlay.
    • From the tool in the bottom navigation of the editor, tap Generate image.
  3. Enter a description of the image you want to create.
    • Note:You can use up to 900 characters.
    • (Optional) Tapto add up to three images from your device's gallery to use as a reference.
  4. Tap Generateto create four images based on your prompt.
    • You can tap the thumbs up or thumbs down icon to provide feedback on the result.
  5. Select the image you like.
  6. From the selected image, you can choose to Use Imageto add it to your timeline or Create Videoto turn the image into an 8-second video.

Edit your generated images or videos

  1. Select the generated image or video in your editor timeline.

  2. Tap Edit Generationto go back to the prompt screen. Your original text and images will automatically populate.

  3. Update your text prompt or reference images.

  4. Tap Generate.

Create video with Edit with AI

Edit with AI in YouTube Create helps you turn raw footage into a polished video with music and effects, providing a strong first draft for you to customize. This feature is ideal for creators who want to produce engaging videos and have more customization options. You can access Edit with AI through YouTube Create.

HOW TO: Edit with AI in YouTube Create

Note:
  • This feature is currently available in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Türkiye and the United States.
  • YouTube Create will initially support voiceover in Bengali, English, Hindi, and Portuguese.
  • You can both download the video and upload it directly to YouTube via the Export Screen.
  1. In the YouTube Create app, tap the banner at the top of YouTube Create that says “Create Shorts.”
  2. Select videos and photos that you'd like to include. Tap Nextwhen you’re done.
    • Note:You can pick up to 25 items.
  3. Choose different editing features like Voiceover, Music, and Captions. Tap Nextwhen you’re done.
  4. Preview the draft.
    • (Optional) Tap Editto make edits to your music volume or voice over.
    • You can tap Edit videoto go back to the editing feature.
  5. Once done, tap Exportand then Done.
  6. Publish or download the video.

Requirements for clips

  • Clips length:While using YouTube Create, you can choose between different video length options including <15s, 15-30s, and 31-60s.
  • Number of clips:1–25 clips
  • Length of upload:The minimum length is 5s and the maximum length is 5 minutes.
