Setting up Cloud Build

This page describes the steps to set up Cloud Build. For information about charges to Cloud Build, see Pricing .

  1. In the Google Cloud console, on the project selector page, select or create a Google Cloud project.

    • Select a project : Selecting a project doesn't require a specific IAM role—you can select any project that you've been granted a role on.
    • Create a project : To create a project, you need the Project Creator ( roles/resourcemanager.projectCreator ), which contains the resourcemanager.projects.create permission. Learn how to grant roles .

  2. Verify that billing is enabled for your Google Cloud project .

  3. Enable the required API.

    To enable APIs, you need the Service Usage Admin IAM role ( roles/serviceusage.serviceUsageAdmin ), which contains the serviceusage.services.enable permission. Learn how to grant roles .

  4. Install the Google Cloud CLI. After installation, initialize the Google Cloud CLI by running the following command:

    gcloud  
    init

    If you're using an external identity provider (IdP), you must first sign in to the gcloud CLI with your federated identity .

  5. If you've already installed gcloud CLI previously, make sure you have the latest available version:

     gcloud components update
