Manage playlists in YouTube Studio

Learn how to create, edit, manage, and filter your playlists in YouTube Studio to engage with your audience.

Notes:

  • This feature may not be available with supervised experiences on YouTube .
  • There's a limit to how many public playlists a channel can create each day across YouTube Music, YouTube main app, and the YouTube API. You can increase your daily limit by gaining access to advanced features. Learn more .

    Create a playlist

    To create a new playlist,

    1. Sign in to YouTube Studio .
    2. In the top-right corner, click CREATEand then New playlist.
    3. Enter a playlist title and description.
    4. Use the drop-down box to select your playlist's visibility setting.
    5. Choose how videos are going to be arranged on the drop-down menu next to it.
    6. Click ADD VIDEOS.
    7. Click CREATE.

    • Playlist titles have a character limit of 150 characters
    • Playlist titles cannot include invalid characters ("<", ">", and the line separator "\u2028")
    • Playlist descriptions have a limit of 5,000 characters
    • Playlist descriptions cannot include invalid characters ("<", ">", and the line separator "\u2028")

    Manage a playlist

    To manage your playlist,

    1. Sign in to YouTube Studio .
    2. From the left Menu, select Content.
    3. Click the Playliststab.
    4. Hover over the playlist description of the playlist you’d like to updateand thenclick Menu.
    5. Select Edit on YouTube. Your playlist will open in a new tab.
      • To sort videos in a playlist:Drag and drop the video up and down to reorder.
      • To share a playlist:Go to your playlist details and select Share. Then, choose where you’d like to share the playlist.
      • To add collaborators:Go to your playlist details and click the Moreand then Collaborate.
      • To add videos to a playlist:Go to your video details and select Moreand then Add videos. You can add a video from search, URL, or your library.
    Note:You can also change your privacy setting .

    Edit a playlist title or description

    To update your playlist’s details,

    1. Sign in to YouTube Studio .
    2. From the left Menu, select Content.
    3. Click the Playliststab.
    4. Hover over the playlist description of the playlist you want to updateand thenclick Details, and update as needed.
    5. Click SAVE.

    Tip:

    Filter a playlist

    To find a playlist easily, use a filter to narrow down your search:

    1. Sign in to YouTube Studio .
    2. From the left Menu, select Content.
    3. Click the Playliststab .
    4. Use the filter barand enter keywords to filter your playlists by title.

    Turn a playlist into a podcast

    To turn an existing playlist into a podcast,

    1. Sign in to YouTube Studio .
    2. Go to Contentand then Playlists.
    3. Hover over the playlist you want to designate as a podcast.
    4. Click Menuand then Set as podcast.
    5. Review your podcast’s details and add a square podcast thumbnail. Podcast details include title, description, and who can view your podcast on YouTube.
    6. Click DONEto confirm your changes.

    Remove podcasting features from a playlist

    To remove podcasting features from your playlist,

    1. Sign in to  YouTube Studio .
    2. Go to Contentand then Playlists.
    3. Hover over the playlist you want to unset as a podcast.
    4. Click on the Menunext to the podcast you want to remove features from.
    5. Select Set as playlist .
    6. Click YESto confirm.

    View playlist analytics

    For each of your playlists, you can access the Overview, Content, Audience, and Revenue tab to find insights aggregated together for all your videos in the playlist. Learn how to  access your playlist analytics.
