You can copy the configuration of a custom detail report or exploration from one property to the other properties where you have a role to create a custom detail report or exploration.
By copying the configuration across properties, you can avoid configuration differences, save time creating reports and explorations in other properties, and spend more time analyzing and getting insights from your data.
You can copy the following types of reports and explorations to properties, subproperties, and roll up properties:
- a custom detail report, including all the summary cards in the custom detail report
- a private or shared custom exploration, including all the tabs in the custom exploration
The option is available to standard and 360 Analytics properties.
The following guided tour opens the last Analytics property you accessed and guides you through how to copy a custom report or exploration across properties. The tour only works for Google Analytics 4, the current version of Google Analytics.
Limits and caveats
The copy action produces a snapshot of the custom report or exploration's configuration at the time when the copy action happened. The copied report or exploration won't reflect changes to the original report or exploration, and no data from the original report or exploration will be included with the copied report or exploration. The copied report or exploration will behave as if it were created in the selected properties directly.
You can't currently:
- copy a default report or a custom overview report across properties
- auto-create custom dimensions, metrics, summary cards, segments, and audiences in the selected properties
Tabs with unsampled data are dropped from an exploration when copied.
You can't copy a custom detail report or exploration within the same property. Instead, you should directly make a copy in Explore and reports library.
Before you begin
You must be:
- an Editor or above in both properties to copy a custom detail report

- Calculated metrics

You'll need to update the report in the selected property to ensure it can be used.
The custom detail report or exploration wasn't copied for one of these reasons:
- You've reached the quota limit for custom reports or explorations. You can create up to 150 custom reports per property. Additionally, you can create up to 200 individual explorations per user per property and up to 500 shared explorations per property.
- You don't have a required role to copy the custom report or exploration. This error may occur when your role changed in the selected property while you were copying a custom report or exploration.
