Businesses on Search and Maps may display third-party reviews from varying sources. These reviews show up on a Business Profile to provide customers more info about the business.
These reviews come from websites that aren’t Google. The type of business and where it’s located decide what reviews are shown and how they look on different devices.
Tip:To find a link to the third-party site, you can either:
- Click the highlighted third-party name.
- Next to the review or aggregated score, click Open in new window.
Review snippets from aggregator websites
Reviews from aggregator websites might be shown on your Business Profile. A review snippet is a short part of a review or rating from a review website. The rating is usually the average of the review scores. Learn more about review snippets .
When Google finds valid reviews or ratings, it might show a rich snippet that includes stars and other info from reviews or ratings.
Editorial top lists from other websites
Important:Editorial top lists from other websites are only available for businesses in the US.
On Google Search, Business Profiles for local businesses may display "Editorial top lists."
These are lists from the web, like "Top 10 Best Restaurants in San Francisco." Users can read these lists to help them decide on the most popular places to eat in a specific area.
Tip:These lists only show up on phones.
Reviews for specific business types
Important:Businesses in the European Economic Area (EEA) can report reviews from other websites directly on Google. Learn how to report inappropriate reviews on your Business Profile .
All businesses should keep in mind:
- You can’t choose which website a review comes from.
- You can’t stop reviews from other websites.
- You should contact the other website directly for issues with a rating or review that comes from that website.
A hotel’s Business Profile on Google Search and Maps might show reviews from travel websites.
The reviews show the overall rating for the hotel and a link to the hotel’s page on the travel website. Reviews from other websites might also show up in the list of Google reviews, but they’re clearly marked to show which website they come from.
Report inappropriate third-party reviews on your hotel's profile
For hotel businesses not in the EEA, reviews from third-party sources can't be flagged directly on Google. To flag an inappropriate third-party review on your hotel's profile:
- Select Read reviews.
- On the review, select the third-party reviewer’s name to visit their website.
- To request removal of the review, contact the provider through their website.
- After the provider updates or removes the review on their website, the change reflects on your Business Profile.
Tip:Businesses in the EEA can report third-party reviews directly on Google. Learn how to report inappropriate reviews on your Business Profile .
