Changes to your Play Console data

You may notice the following changes within Play Console:

Updates to reports

In late May 2018, you may begin to see changes in your app's metrics based on your users' deletion of data. Some metrics are calculated based on data from users who have agreed to share their data with developers in aggregate.

The metrics that we provide in Play Console are adjusted to closely reflect data from all of your users. However, Google will not display data that falls under certain minimum thresholds.

Delete an app or game

What you can delete

To be eligible for self-service deletion via the UI, an app must meet the following requirements:

  • The app must be unpublished.
  • The app must be installed on less than 100 active devices. An "active device" is defined as one that has been turned on at least once in the past 30 days.
  • The app must not be rejected, blocked, or suspended.
  • The app must not have changes in review.
  • The deletion request must be made by an adminof the developer account, who can provide the transaction ID for the app
Note: This self-service deletion feature will not include monetized apps (for example, paid apps, apps with in-app purchases or subscriptions) unless they have zero lifetime installs. For monetized apps with installs, you can  contact support by raising a ticket for further permanent removal of the app from your Google Play Console account.

How to delete an app

The new delete app section will be visible on the App availabilitytab, located within the Advanced settingspage in the Google Play Console.

Steps to delete your app:

  1. Navigate to App settings> Advanced settingsin your Play Console.
  2. On the App availabilitytab, you will see a "Delete app" section if your app meets the deletion requirements.
  3. Click Delete app.
  4. Enter the app's Package nameand your Developer account creation transaction IDto confirm deletion.

What happens when you delete an app

After you delete an app through the UI, the following process occurs:

  • Your app will be removed from Google Play and you will lose access to all user data and metrics.
  • You can recover a deleted app within 7 daysof deleting it. After the deadline, your app will be permanently deleted.
  • A deleted app  cannot be transferred.
  • Navigation within Play Console for that specific app will be restricted, and options to publish changes will be hidden.

What happens to the package name

  • For a deleted app with zero lifetime installs, the package name will be freed up for reuse by anyone.
  • For a deleted app with any lifetime installs, the package name cannot be reused by any other app, including apps created by the developer account that created the deleted app.

What is a transaction ID

You'll need the registration transaction ID for your account. To find the transaction ID, search the account owner's email inbox for "Developer registration fee".

If you can’t find the transaction ID email receipt:

With the target account owner's email address, sign in to Google Payments .

  1. At the left menu, select Activity.
  2. Find and select the transaction for your developer account registration.
    • Tip: Search your transactions for "Google Play Developer."
  3. Your transaction ID is listed near the bottom of the transaction details.

Registration transactions IDs are typically in one of the following formats:

01234567890123456789.token.0123456789012345

0.G.123456789012345

Registration-1234ab56-7c89-12d3-4567-8e91234567f8

PDS.1234-5678-9012-3456

Important:When providing your transaction ID during the app deletion process, remove the first part of the Order ID (for example, discard "0.G." or the digits before the words "token" or "Registration").
