Safety warnings

To avoid damaging your phone, accessories, or any connected devices, and to reduce the risk of personal injury, discomfort, property damage, or other potential hazards, follow these precautions below.
Handling
Handle your phone with care. You may damage the device or the battery if you disassemble, drop, bend, burn, crush, or puncture your device. Do not use a device with a cracked screen or a damaged enclosure. Using a damaged device may cause battery overheating or injury. Don’t expose your phone to liquids, which can cause a short circuit and overheating. If your phone gets wet, do not attempt to dry it using an external heat source.
The phone is designed to work best in ambient temperatures between 32° and 95°F (0° and 35°C), and should be stored between ambient temperatures of -4° and 113°F (-20° and 45°C). Do not leave your phone in places where the temperature may exceed 113°F (45°C), such as on a car dashboard or near a heating vent, as this may damage the product, overheat the battery, or pose a risk of fire. Keep your phone away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight. If your device becomes too hot, disconnect it from its power source if it’s plugged in, move it to a cooler place, and don’t use it until has cooled.
Use of your phone in certain modes, such as gaming, taking videos, using a flashlight setting, or VR, can cause your phone to generate more heat than it would under normal operating conditions. This may cause your phone to operate in a reduced-power mode or temporarily shut down. Try to use extra care when operating the device in these modes.

Repair & service
Don’t attempt to repair the phone or any of its accessories yourself. Disassembling the device may damage the device or cause injury.
Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL should only be repaired by Google or a Google-authorized service provider. Unauthorized repairs or modifications could result in permanent damage to the device, and may, in certain jurisdictions, affect your warranty coverage and regulatory authorizations. Charging
Be sure the power adapter and Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are well-ventilated when in use or charging. Using damaged cables or power adapters, or charging when moisture is present, can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the phone or other property. When charging the phone, make sure the power adapter is plugged into a socket near the phone and is easily accessible. Avoid charging the device in direct sunlight. This product is intended for use with a certified Limited Power Source (LPS) per IEC 60950-1 rated: 5 Volts DC, maximum 3 Amp; 9 Volts DC, maximum 2 Amp; or both. This device must be used with an AC adapter that has been qualified per CTIA Certification Requirements for Battery System Compliance to IEEE 1725. This device comes with an AC adapter that has the proper certification.
Only charge your phone with the included power adapter and cable, or compatible charging accessories available on the Google Store and selected retailers. Failure to use compatible charging accessories can cause fire, electric shock, injury, or damage to the phone and its accessories.
When disconnecting the power adapter from a power outlet, pull on the adapter, never on the cable. Do not twist or pinch the USB cable, and do not force a connector into a port. If you receive a message while charging that instructs you to unplug the charger, disconnect the adapter plug. Before attempting to charge again, make sure both the charging cable connector and the phone's charging port are dry and clear of any objects.
Prolonged heat exposure
The phone and its charger generate heat during normal operation and comply with applicable surface temperature standards and limits. Avoid prolonged, direct, or indirect skin contact when the device is in use or charging – exposing skin to hot surfaces for a long period of time may cause discomfort or burns. Do not sleep on your device or its power adapter, or cover them with a blanket or pillow. Be aware of this issue if you have a physical condition that affects your ability to detect heat against your skin.
Hearing protection
Prolonged exposure to loud sounds (including music) can cause hearing loss. To prevent possible hearing damage, avoid listening at high volume for prolonged periods of time. Continued exposure to high volumes and background noise can make loud sounds seem quieter than they actually are. Check the volume before using headphones or earbuds.
Battery
This phone contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which is a sensitive component that can cause injury if damaged. Do not attempt to remove the battery. Contact Google or a Google-authorized service provider to replace the battery. Replacement by an unqualified professionals can damage your phone. Use of an unqualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard. If the battery leaks, do not allow the leaking fluid to come into contact with eyes, skin, or clothing. If the fluid is already in contact with the eyes, do not rub them. Rinse the eyes with clean water immediately and seek medical advice. Dispose of your phone, battery, and accessories according to local environmental regulations. Do not dispose of them in normal household waste. Improper disposal may lead to fire, explosion, and/or other hazards. Do not open, crush, heat above 113°F (45°C), or incinerate. For more information on recycling your phone, visit g.co/pixel/recycle
Environmental restrictions
To prevent damage to your phone’s parts or internal circuits, do not use or store the device or its accessories in dusty, smoky, damp, or dirty environments, or near magnetic fields. Keep it away from heat sources and out of direct sunlight. Do not leave your phone inside a vehicle or in places where the temperature may exceed 113°F (45°C), such as on a car dashboard, window sill, near a heating vent, or behind glass that is exposed to direct sunlight or strong ultraviolet light for extended periods of time. This may damage the product, overheat the battery, or pose arisk of fire or explosion.
Explosive atmospheres
Do not use, store, or transport your phone where flammables or explosives are stored (in gas stations, fuel depots, or chemical plants, for example). Do not use your phone where blasting operations are in progress or in potentially explosive atmospheres such as fueling areas, fuel storehouses, below deck on boats, fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities, and areas where the air contains chemicals or particles, such as grain, dust, or metal powders. Sparks in such areas could cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Please observe all notices and signs where these hazards might be present.Navigation
Your device may include mapping and navigation services. These services depend on a working data connection and location services that may not be available at all times. Maps and directions may be inaccurate. You should carefully review directions, use common sense, and follow all applicable traffic laws and signs.
Actual conditions & assumption of risk
When you use Google Maps/Google Earth's map data, traffic, directions, and other content, you may find that actual conditions differ from the map results and content. Please exercise your independent judgment and use Google Maps/Google Earth at your own risk. You’re responsible at all times for your conduct and its consequences.
Distraction
Using your device when performing certain activities can distract you and may cause a dangerous situation for you or others. To reduce the risk of accidents (and because it’s prohibited by law in many countries), do not use your device while driving, bicycling, while operating machinery, or engaging in any activities that have potentially serious consequences. Follow local laws about using mobile devices, headphones, and helmets.
Radio Frequency Interference
Please observe rules that prohibit the use of wireless technology (e.g., cellular or Wi-Fi). Your device is designed to comply with regulations governing radio frequency emissions, but use of wireless devices can negatively affect other electronic equipment. For example, while flying in an aircraft or immediately before boarding, use your wireless device only according to instructions provided by the airline. Use of a wireless device in an aircraft may disrupt wireless networks, present a hazard to aircraft operation, or be illegal. You may be able to use your device in airplane mode.
Medical Device Interference
Your device uses radios and other components that emit electromagnetic fields, and contains magnets. These electromagnetic fields and magnets may interfere with pacemakers and other implanted and nearby medical devices. Always keep the phone and its charger more than 15 cm (6 in) from the surface of the skin near the pacemaker. Hold the phone on the other side of your body from the pacemaker or other implanted or nearby medical device. Do not carry the phone in a breast pocket or in a pocket near the pacemaker or other implanted or nearby medical devices. If you have questions about using your Google device with or near your pacemaker or other implanted or nearby medical devices, consult your healthcare provider. If you suspect your device is interfering with your pacemaker or medical devices, turn off your device and consult your physician for information specific to your medical device.
Hospitals
Switch off your wireless device when requested to do so in hospitals, clinics, or health care facilities. These requests are designed to prevent possible interference with sensitive medical equipment.
Child safety
Your phone contains (or comes with) small parts, plastic elements, and parts with sharp edges that may cause an injury or create a choking hazard. The charging cable may be a strangulation hazard for small children. Do not leave your phone and its accessories within the reach of small children or allow them to play with it. They could hurt themselves or others, or could accidentally damage the phone. Consult a physician immediately if small parts are swallowed.
Emergency communications
This device operates using radio signals and may not establish or maintain a connection in all conditions. Wireless devices may not be reliable for emergency communications. While some jurisdictions transmit emergency information over wireless networks, your device may not always receive these communications depending upon network connectivity.
Health-related functions
Your phone and its associated exercise application functions are not medical devices and are intended for information purposes only. They are not designed or intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, monitoring, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease.
Proper Handling and Usage
Follow these guidelines when using, storing, cleaning, or disposing of your phone:
Operating temperature
Do not use or charge your phone at ambient temperatures lower than 32°F (0°C) or higher than 95°F (35°C). If the interior temperature of the device exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience the following behaviors while the device tries to regulate its temperature: reduced performance and connectivity, inability to charge, or powering down of the display or the phone. You may not be able to use the phone while it regulates its temperature. Move the phone to a cooler (or warmer) location and wait a few minutes before attempting to use it again.
Care & cleaning
Unplug the device and adapter before cleaning, during lightning storms, or when unused for extended periods of time. Avoid solvent and abrasive material that may cause damage to the product surface. Exposure to makeup, chemicals, and dyed materials such as denim can stain light-colored devices and accessories. Use a clean, soft, and dry or slightly damp (not wet) cloth to clean the device and accessories – avoid USB ports and other crevices when cleaning. Do not use any chemical detergent, powder, or other chemical agents (such as alcohol or benzene) to clean the phone or accessories. Don’t clean your device while it is charging.
Magnetic fields
Avoid placing any media containing magnets or sensitive to magnetism, such as credit cards, bank cards, audio/video tapes, or magnetic memory devices, near this product or its charger or charging cable, because you may lose information stored on those media. Media containing information sensitive to magnets should be kept at least 5 cm (2 in) away from this phone.
Human Exposure to Radio Frequency Energy
Like any other phone, your wireless device emits radio frequency (RF) energy during use. According to the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), the critical effect of RF exposure relevant to human health and safety is heating of exposed tissue.
According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), “Some health and safety interest groups have interpreted certain reports to suggest that wireless device use may be linked to cancer and other illnesses, posing potentially greater risks for children than adults. While these assertions have gained increased public attention, currently no scientific evidence establishes a causal link between wireless device use and cancer or other illnesses.”
However, above a certain level (referred to as the threshold) depending on the duration of exposure, RF exposure and the accompanying temperature rise can provoke serious health effects, such as heatstroke and tissue damage (burns). To avoid hazards to health deriving from high RF exposure, limits are set in relation to the threshold known to show adverse effects, with an additional reduction factor to take care of scientific uncertainties. These limits are generally expressed in terms of the specific absorption rate (SAR). SAR is a measure of the rate of absorption of RF energy in the body. Tests for SAR are conducted with the phone transmitting at its highest power level in all tested frequency bands. SAR-limits were first established in 1996 by the FCC in the USA and they were then adopted elsewhere.

EMC compliance statement
Important: This device, power adapter, and other in-box accessories have demonstrated Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) compliance under conditions that included the use of compliant peripheral devices and shielded cables between system components. It is important that you use compliant peripheral devices and shielded cables between system components to reduce the possibility of causing interference to radios, televisions, and other electronic devices.

FCC Regulatory Compliance
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected

Radio Frequency Exposure
This device meets the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) requirements for exposure to radio waves and is designed and manufactured not to exceed the FCC's emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy. For satisfying FCC RF exposure compliance requirements, body-worn operations are restricted to belt clips, holsters or similar accessories that have no metallic components in the assembly and must provide at least 10 mm separation between the device, including its antenna, and the user's body.
Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Information
This device is designed to meet the requirements for exposure to radio waves established by the Federal Communications Commission (USA).
The Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) limit adopted by the U.S. is 1.6 W/kg averaged over one gram of tissue. The highest SAR value reported to the FCC for this device type complies with this limit. Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL comply with radio frequency specifications when used near your ear or at a distance of 1.0 cm (0.4 in) from your body. Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC)
Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL (as follows) have been evaluated and certified to be compatible with hearing aids per technical specification ANSI C63.19-2011. There are two measures of hearing aid compatibility:M rating, which is a measure of immunity to radio frequency interference for acoustic coupling hearing aids; and T rating, which is a measure of performance when used with an inductive coupling (telecoil) hearing aid.
Hearing aid compatible devices offered by Google are rated:
- Pixel 3a (G020E & G020G) M3/T3
- Pixel 3a XL (G020A & G020C) M3/T3
Per FCC rules, a mobile phone is considered hearing aid compatible if rated M3 or M4 for acoustic coupling or T3 or T4 for inductive coupling.
Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL (as above) have been tested and rated for use with hearing aids for some of the wireless technologies that they use. It is important to try the different features of your phone thoroughly and in different locations, using your hearing aid or cochlear implant, to determine if you hear any interfering noise. Consult your service provider or Google for information on hearing aid compatibility. If you have questions about return or exchange policies, consult your service provider or phone retailer.

This symbol means that the equipment must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste. Disposing of WEEE together with normal waste may pose a risk to the environment and to human health, due to certain substances used in EEE and their batteries.
Under the WEEE directive, each EU member state is responsible for achieving a high level of collection of WEEE for treatment, recovery, and environmentally sound disposal. Before tossing your device, think a minute about how to reduce the amount of WEEE you create. You could, for example, reuse it, recover it, or turn it into artwork. By simply extending the life of your device, you will have reduced waste and helped the EU achieve its objectives.

Your phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. It complies with international guidelines in relation to the limiting of human exposure to electromagnetic fields, and has been specifically designed to meet the guidelines for exposure to radio waves established by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India ("DoT"). The guidelines use a unit of measurement known as Specific Absorption Rate ("SAR"), which is a unit of body-absorbed radio frequency quantity when the phone is in use. The SAR limit in India for mobile devices is 1.6 W/kg over a mass of 1 gram of human tissue.

While most of the laboratory studies have been unable to find a direct link between exposure to radio frequency radiation and health, the DoT has prescribed the following precautionary measures while using the mobile handset:
- Use a wireless hands-free system (headphone, headset) with a lower power Bluetooth emitter
- Make sure that the mobile phone has a low SAR
- Keep your calls short or send a text message (SMS) instead. This advice applies especially to children, adolescents and pregnant women.
- Use mobile phone when the signal quality is good
- People having active medical implants should preferably keep the mobile phone at least 15 cm away from the implant
Recycling, e-waste management and handling statement
In India, this label indicates that this product should not be thrown away with household waste. It should be deposited at an appropriate facility to allow recovery and recycling.
