Pocket Frenchies

About Pockets

I'm the original breeder of pockets and the only breeder in the world who is breeding PUREBRED Pocket Frenchies~! They are 8-13 pounds full grown. It is currently approximately a 6 month to a year wait for a pocket Frenchie.

Pocket Frenchies or Teacups if you prefer are purebred Frenchies from show parents and pedigrees filled with Champions. I have spent many years breeding out health issues and breeding down their size. No shortcuts of cross breeding to less than desirable breeds with bad temperaments. I’m the only one in the world breeding purebred Frenchies of mini size and definitely the only one breeding pockets. I came up with both size classes on my own many years ago. With my bad back, pockets and minis are perfect and are no problem to pick up. I decided to call them pockets when I took one to visit my dog grooming friend and she stuck him in her smock pocket.

If a breeder doesn't have adult pocket Frenchies to show you, they're cross breeding to Chihuahuas and lying about being purebred. I don't know of any breeders breeding purebreds these sizes. Be aware my lightweight size is what other breeders call minis or micro. Cross breeding is rampant right now, evident by Merle color and long hair, since those are Chihuahua mixes. Pockets require more care, often staying in incubator except for feedings every two hours for first week until bigger, so Mom doesn't lay on accidentally. I keep them until older and of course being so rare and specialized care, they cost more. Pockets are tiny and for someone who wants to carry them around for the first 3 months after getting them, due to such small size and short legs. Pockets are like raising newborns for 5 weeks instead of two.

Lap Dogs

Pockets are much more the lap dogs and due to their tiny size you pretty much have to carry them around everywhere for the first 6 months. Their tiny size makes them perfect for apartment living since they are potty trained to use grass potty pads and can continue to use these as adult dogs. All pups are potty trained by the time they leave for their new homes. Pockets are hand delivered by a puppy nanny. If a breeder isn't breeding pocket adults, then they are just selling unhealthy litter runts or cross bred dogs as a pocket.

Don’t be fooled by horrible cross bred French Bullhuahuas, cross breeding just ruins everything wonderful about the breed. Frenchies are like a large dog breed in that they aren't ankle biters or yappers. Why anyone would want to mix a fantastic Frenchie temperament to one of the worst tempered breeds there is, I will never understand. There is no such thing as a merle Frenchie, it is a Chihuahua. I breed standard colors and the diluted colors of them. Smaller Frenchies mean smaller litters which is one reason they cost twice as much as minis. The other being the higher level of care required for first month after born.
