The Mission of the Community Hevra Kadisha of Greater Boston

Our mission is two-fold:

1) To provide the Greater Boston Jewish Community one of the most significant and respected mitzvot in our tradition: the ritual of tahara (washing and preparation of the deceased for burial.) We accomplish this by training a cadre of caring volunteers (haverim) to perform this mitzvah in a ritually prescribed manner when called upon to do so.

2) To educate Greater Boston's Jewish communities about traditional Jewish death practices.

Jews of all backgrounds and genders are welcome to join our Hevra Kadisha.

The education and training is guided by Kavod v’Nichum , ( www.kavodvnichum.org a national organization whose goal is to educate & train local Hevra Kadisha communities.

Support our sacred work and community education programs by sending a donation  or having your organization become a member.
