By making the single Ima Read the soundtrack for his fall 2012 collection, Rick Owens put Zebra Katz on the fashion map—and put off a few in the audience in the process. Reading is the art of insulting the opponent in a voguing competition, cut here with extra fierceness by the Brooklyn performance artist (“Ima read that bitch / Ima school that bitch / Ima take that bitch to college / Ima give that bitch some knowledge”). Since the collection last month, a number of sanctioned remixes have come out, including the handclappy version above by DJ Sliink, but we still prefer the original, in all its dark, camp glory…
