Two Major Exits from Calvin Klein

Big news out of Calvin Klein today. Both the brand’s women’s and men’s creative directors, Francisco Costa and Italo Zucchelli, respectively, are out. In a statement today, the company revealed it will bring together its divisions under one global strategy, effectively becoming a behemoth in the style of its European counterparts.

The announcement may pave the way for Raf Simons, who’s long thought to have been eyeing the label, to move in and take the helm. He’s already heavily vested in New York, where he makes frequent art-related trips, and has lowered his visibility in Paris. If true, he’ll likely find it less pressure-filled than his tenure at Dior, leading him to call the fashion system “bullshit” in a recent interview.

Until that new person is named, the company’s in-house design teams will produce and present the lines. There will be no runway show for Calvin Klein Collection in June (men’s) or September (women’s).
