About Us

Dr. Kwan is a prominent board certified dermatologist, practicing both medical and cosmetic dermatology in San Francisco. He is among the nation’s leading practitioners of laser skin procedures and offers a full range of services to help each patient achieve healthy, beautiful skin.

Many well-known local and national television personalities rely on Dr. Kwan’s expertise to look their best on air. He offers his patients a complete selection of skin-care services, including Botox, facial fillers and the most advanced laser practice in the Bay Area.

Dr. Kwan is frequently asked to train other doctors to perform laser procedures and to consult on the use of skin care products. He is also a Clinical Attending Physician at the UCSF Department of Dermatology, where he instructs dermatology residents.

At his boutique office in San Francisco’s Union Square, Dr. Kwan combines sophisticated technology with a commitment to the highest standards of patient care. He believes that having an experienced physician perform these procedures is essential to providing his patients with the highest level of care and the best results.

Having studied ethnic dermatology extensively, Dr. Kwan is an expert at treating skin of all colors. He personally designs a skin care regimen tailored to each patient.

Reporters frequently seek out Dr. Kwan as an expert on skin care. He has made several appearances on television, including a featured segment for Dr. Dean Edell (on channel ABC); he can currently be seen in nationally running infomercials for ThermaClear and Bare Minerals.

Dr Kwan received his medical degree from USC and holds a B.S. in biology from UCLA, magna cum laude. He completed his internship at the University of Rochester Medical Center and returned to Los Angeles for a residency at UCLA. He was also the Chief Resident in dermatology at King/Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Dr. Rupa Badlani, MD Dr. Badlani completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California Berkeley in molecular cell biology and her medical degree at the University of California Irvine. She became interested in dermatology when she completed clinical research in psoriasis and eczema at the University of California San Francisco under the mentorship of Dr. John Koo. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center followed by her dermatology residency at the University of California San Francisco, where she served as chief resident of the program. Dr. Badlani has been working with Dr. William Kwan since September 2014.  She currently lives with her husband Shawn and infant son Arjun in San Francisco.

Patrick Unemori, MD MA Patrick Unemori, MD MA went to undergraduate and graduate school at Stanford University, completed medical school, Internal Medicine residency, HIV Dermatology Fellowship, and Dermatology Residency at University California San Francisco, and finished a Fulbright Fellowship at University New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. As well, Patrick was previously Division Chief of Dermatology at Highland Hospital in Oakland, and as well remains active as Clinical Dermatologist at University California San Francisco where he attends primarily at San Francisco General Hospital. Patrick was born and raised in Maui, Hawaii where he grew up on a pineapple farm in Haiku, Maui.

Bahareh Tabibian, Registered Nurse
Bahareh is a Registered Nurse who joined Dr. Kwan’s practice in 2011. She graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and went on to receive her Bachelors of Nursing degree and Public Health Nursing certification from Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles. Bahareh greatly enjoys working within the specialty of Dermatology catering to the individual needs and concerns of the diverse population of San Francisco.

Jenna Wells, Registered Nurse
Jenna is our registered nurse who will greet you with a friendly smile as you arrive at Dr. William Kwan’s office. Jenna, a Dallas native, moved to San Francisco in 2013 with her husband. She has had the privilege over the last eight years to work with highly regarded dermatologist in Texas and New York. She has a strong background in dermatology and continues to learn something new every day. She is a caring and compassionate individual and will make you feel at ease throughout your appointment. She will work closely with you to provide the information you need to make informed decisions regarding procedures. Jenna is passionate about her role as your medical caretaker and will do her best to make sure you have a great experience each and every time you visit Dr. Kwan.

Janine Giordanelli, Aesthetician
Janine Giordanelli has been practicing aesthetics since 1987. Postgraduate trained at the International Dermal Institute, with specialized training in problematic skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, pigmentation and hormonal skin changes. Janine holds many certifications that make her an expert in treating troubled skin conditions along with her philosophy of getting to the root cause to treat and solve problems with an emphasis on lifestyle based skin care routines that consistently produces lasting results!

Gibran Leesha, Office Manager
Gibran started his medical career as a medical assistant working for various specialties over the past decade. Concurrently he began course work towards a bachelor degree in human services at the University of Phoenix, which he plans on completing in the near future. He joined Dr. Kwan’s practice in 2006 and currently manages the front office. Gibran cares deeply about patient service and strives to exceed expectations.
