Spring Break Fun in Missoula: A Few Unique Alternatives

By AARON TRAYLOR

There’s much more to spring break than hitting Ryman Street at 11:00pm on a weekend. We’ve got some ideas that range from yoga classes to giving back to the community.

One thing is for sure, with these inspired activities, it could be your best Spring Break yet!

Unwind and get relaxed

Forget the late nights out at the Elbow or Stockmans (if only for a little while, cuz I DJ there).

Just enjoy one day away from the norm and take in some yoga classes here in town, maybe even take a walk up Mount Sentinel. The ice is still slippery on those switchbacks, but you’ll unwind once you get to the top for that beautiful view.

Forget those far away beaches, do a Montana style stay-cation

One of the many luxuries that might be overlooked is our own beautiful Montana backyard. We get so shuffled in our day to day grind that we often forget that our mountains and surrounding forests are just a stone’s throw in any given direction.

Make an effort! Get in the car and hit up Glacier National Park , even if only for a day. I’m willing to bet that some of the hotels or bed and breakfasts are hoping for business during the off-season, so they might be likely to offer a steep discount.

Return the Favor

Here’s a cool idea. Donate some time back to this community that has done so much for us! The UM Western Volunteer Center is a great place for that. One day of work could mean so much and might make a meaningful difference!

Organize, Organize, Organize!

I find myself doing this each and every spring vacation. When I have two or three days off in a row, my mind just can’t shut down. I can’t just relax, I have to keep moving!

So, in an effort to keep myself from going stir-crazy while staying home for spring break, I do spring cleaning. Lots and lots of it. Stuff clutters up all over the house when you are snowed in during those dreary Montana winter months, that’s when the sun comes out I go into organize mode. Drawers, closets, garage, no stone left unturned.

Any other cool ideas you’d like to suggest that we can do during our vacation? Let’s make this the best Spring Break yet!
