Matthew Van Nostrand

Matthew (Matt) Van Nostrand is a personal injury lawyer at Murphy Battista LLP’s Kelowna office.

Matt grew up in Kelowna. He has a B.Comm from UVic with a sub-speciality in entrepreneurship and a law degree from UBC.

Called to the British Columbia Bar (2010) and the Yukon Bar (2013), Matt spent five years in downtown Vancouver practising law with one of Canada’s most highly regarded defence firms before joining the team at Murphy Battista LLP’s Kelowna office. During his time in Vancouver, Matt gained valuable experience defending hospitals, dentists and chiropractors. He also acted for municipalities and regularly worked on motor vehicle and occupiers liability claims.

Matt’s experience as a defence litigator for major insurance companies means he is well acquainted with the tactics used by insurance companies in defence of claims against their insureds.

When not at work, Matt is kept busy at home with his two young children. He is an avid snowboarder and cycling enthusiast – in 2016 he won the Whistler GranFondo.
