The 30th anniversary of the MTV Europe Music Awards was celebrated on Sunday, November 10. The location of the event was Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena. MTV presented EMAs after 7 years with talented artists invited.
It was hosted by talented singer Rita Ora, and the show featured spectacular performances. Ora also gave a heartfelt tribute to her close friend, Liam Payne.
Swift’s ongoing “Eras Tour” was a massive success. She got nominated in seven categories this year after releasing her 11th album “The Tortured Poet Department. She took home 4 awards including Best Artist, Best Live Act, Best US Act, and even won the Best Video award for her song “Fortnight” featuring (Post Malone).
In a pre-recorded message aired during the ceremony, Swift expressed her gratitude and thanked her fans for the recognition and honors.
Ariana won the Best Pop award this year, and she was up against some of the big names like Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, and Sabrina Carpenter. Her fanbase is super loyal, and with her latest hit track, ‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love), it’s really not a surprise.
She was happy about her win and made sure to thank her fans for voting and loving her music.
Though Sabrina couldn’t attend the event because her concert tour was scheduled for the same night, her dominance still managed to win the Best Song of the Year award for her song “Espresso.”
To express her heartfelt gratitude, MTV shared a clip of Sabrina where she thanked her beloved fans for voting for her. This year she had crazy hits and her album “Short n’ Sweet, “marked a major milestone in her career.
South African uprising singer had an impressive showing at EMAs, winning three awards including Best Afro Beats, Best R&B , and Best African Act.
She performed her popular song “Water” and her new track, “Push 2 Start,” with a group of dancers live on the show. She was actually nominated for four categories this year (Best New Act).
Eminem’s “Houdini” lost Best Video to Taylor Swift and Post Malone for “Fortnight,” but he still made a big impact by winning Best Hip Hop at the MTV EMAs.
This marked his 10th win in the category, bringing his total EMA trophies to 15. Though he wasn’t there in person, Eminem sent a playful video message, jokingly with the EMAs and sincerely thanking his fans and team for their support.
Calvin Harris got Best Electronic Act of the Year for his contributions to electronic music over the past year. He was nominated among other talented artists like David Guetta and Disclosure.
He is known for his consistent hits and collaborations, Harris continues to be a dominant figure in the industry, and “One Kiss” one of his hits still appears in hot charts today.
The band won Best Alternative for this year at EMAs, which shows their strong influence in the rock genre. Fans love their energetic live performances and powerful songs and they have won countless awards for it.
Their hit track “Radioactive” is one of their most famous, along with other fan favorites like “Believer,” “Demons,” and “Thunder.
Jimin from BTS won the Best K-Pop award which is no surprise since his music was influenced across the globe, continuing BTS’s strong presence in the category. This marked the second year in a row that a BTS member has won since their member Jungkook also received the same award last year.
Their success in the music industry continued even after all these years, particularly in the K-pop genre with other world-wide famous groups showing global influence.
Gallagher received Best Rock at the 2024 MTV EMAs. The former Oasis singer is still a huge figure in rock music, with fans loving his distinctive voice and style.
His win shows he’s still relevant and continues to influence the rock scene, both as a solo artist and through his work with Oasis.
LaLisa (Lisa of BLACKPINK) won Best Collaboration and Biggest Fans in this event. Her collab with known Spanish pop sensation Rosalía in their song “NEW WOMAN” earned this award, while her global fanbase got her the Biggest Fans award.
This track was released in August and instantly blew up with the unexpected collab it was highly praised and Lisa won numerous awards this year.
Sia was honored with the Best Australian Act award this year, although she also couldn’t attend the ceremony, her continued success in the music world was clearly acknowledged.
Known for her unique voice and massive hits like “Chandelier” and “Elastic Heart,” Sia remains a pop sensation and her music is still praised internationally.
Mendes won Best Canadian Act at the EMAs, with his strong presence in the Canadian music and fans still appreciate his tracks and clearly voted for his amazing vocals. He was also nominated for Biggest Fans , but sadly he didn’t win that category.
Audience liked his fit as he showed up in a mega-chill suit and his calm appearance spread across the media he’s also called the “Prince of Pop” as he also performed live in the event.
Up-and-comer Boone was at EMA winning the Best New Artist of the year. He managed to deliver an incredible performance with his viral hit “Beautiful Things” and his latest single, “Slow it Down,” he also suspended on a golden grand piano.
Boone, who first gained attention on American Idol and made a name for himself in pop music, continues to rise with his unique sound and strong fanbase.

RAYE took home the Best UK & Ireland Act award, as she conquered her place in pop and R&B. RAYE also performed live for EMAs audience singing her hit tracks ‘Escapism’, ‘Oscar Winning Tears’ and ‘Body Dysmorphia’.
This highlighted her growing success in the UK music scene, and her winning awards showed her rising profile in global music.
