Country music icon Dolly Parton isn’t slowing down anytime soon, but she is changing gears.

This innovative project, kicking off in March 2025, promises a unique blend of music and storytelling.
Fans will be treated to a multimedia extravaganza featuring orchestral renditions of Parton’s beloved hits, with the singer’s own personal narratives.
“Threads” promises to be a visual and musical feast. In between these orchestral renditions, Parton herself will grace the screen, sharing anecdotes and insights that bring her music to life.
The premiere of “Threads” will take place on March 20th, 2025, with the Nashville Symphony.
With the potential for a global tour on the horizon, fans around the world can look forward to experiencing Dolly Parton’s music in a whole new way.
Whether you’re a longtime Dolly devotee or simply appreciate a night of captivating music and storytelling, “Threads: My Songs in Symphony” promises an unforgettable evening!
But what led to this decision, and does this mean there will be no Dolly Parton’s tours anymore? Let’s talk about it.
Throughout the decades, Dolly has captivated audiences across the globe with countless live shows, and her illustrious career has been full of tireless touring.
From her early days to her most recent outing, the aptly titled “ Pure & Simple Tour” in 2016 was her 12th and last tour.
Her last tour spanned 60 dates across the US and Canada, Dolly has consistently brought her music to the people.
However, in 2022, during a conversation with Pollstar, Dolly made a heartfelt announcement: she was retiring from full-scale touring. She agreed to do a “Long weekend of shows or just a few shows at a festival, but not on full-blown tours anymore!”
Dolly announced she won’t tour again.

“I do not think I will ever tour again, but I do know I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.” pic.twitter.com/sLMIdrKQnD
“I’ve done that my whole life, and it takes so much time and energy. I like to stay a little closer to home with my husband. We’re getting older now, and I don’t want to be gone for four or five weeks at a time. Something could happen,” said Dolly.
She further continued,
“I would not feel right about that, if I were gone and somebody needed me. Or I would feel bad if I had to leave a tour if somebody got sick at home and needed me and then I had to walk out on the fans.”
This decision eventually made its way to “Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony.”
“Threads” offers a unique alternative for fans who crave the magic of Dolly’s music live.
While the traditional touring format may be a thing of the past, “Threads” promises a fresh and captivating experience, allowing audiences to continue to celebrate Dolly’s legacy in a new and exciting way.
