Payne had reportedly arrived in Buenos Aires to support his former bandmate Niall Horan, who was performing a concert in the city.
The accident happened around 5 pm local time, with Payne falling approximately 40 meters into the hotel’s internal patio.
Emergency services arrived quickly but, sadly, Payne’s injuries were too severe. Local ambulance services confirmed he was already deceased when they arrived.
As soon as the news broke, fans wasted no time in heading to the hotel where Payne spent his final moments.
Thousands of heartbroken supporters gathered outside the Casa Sur Palmero Hotel, lighting candles, placing flowers, and singing some of One Direction’s most famous hits like What Makes You Beautiful and Story of My Life .
Many embraced each other, crying openly as they reflected on how much Payne and his music had meant to them.
One fan, Rosario, told reporters, “It’s quite distressing. We grew up with him, and now he’s gone.”
Another fan, Letizia, added, “It still doesn’t seem real. Liam was part of my childhood.”
Marina, another grieving fan, shared how much Payne’s music helped her during difficult times: “He and One Direction were always there for us through their songs. Coming here to honor him felt necessary.”
Liam Payne’s death has sent shockwaves not only among fans but across the entertainment world, with tributes pouring in from celebrities and fellow musicians.
Dermot O’Leary, who hosted The X Factor during Payne’s rise to fame, expressed deep sorrow.
He recalled the young Liam at 14 auditioning for the show with Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to the Moon and said, “He just loved to sing. He was always so polite and humble.”
Paris Hilton shared her sadness, writing, “So upsetting to hear about Liam Payne’s passing. Sending love to his family and loved ones.”
Fellow singer Olly Murs posted a tribute on Instagram , expressing his devastation, “I’m lost for words. Liam had such a kind heart, and seeing his life end so young is just heartbreaking.”
Charlie Puth, who had worked with Payne, also took to Instagram, sharing photos of their time together and stating, “I can’t believe he’s gone. Liam was always so kind to me.”
Harry Styles’ mother, Anne Twist, shared a touching tribute, posting a broken-hearted emoji with the caption: “Just a boy.”
Details surrounding the circumstances of Payne’s death are still being investigated.
According to reports, local police had been called to the hotel earlier that day after being informed about “an aggressive man”who was allegedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
While the exact cause of the fall remains unclear, police are continuing their inquiries.
Despite this, Payne had appeared happy in social media posts just hours before his death.
He shared a photo on Snapchat with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, looking relaxed and smiling.
His final post was a picture of the hotel, captioned, “Happy I got some time away,” with a heart emoji.
Earlier that day, he had also posted about enjoying lunch in his hotel room, planning a Halloween costume, and watching Forrest Gump .
Liam Payne’s rise to fame began in 2008 when he first auditioned for The X Factor at just 14 years old.
Although he was eliminated, he returned in 2010, a decision that changed his life forever.
Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger saw potential in him and grouped him with Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson, forming One Direction.
The band quickly became a global sensation, selling over 50 million records and winning awards such as the BRITs and MTV VMAs.
Their debut album , Up All Night , became the UK’s fastest-selling album of 2011, and their first single What Makes You Beautiful shot straight to number one.
Despite their split in 2015, One Direction remains one of the most iconic boy bands in music history.
Payne went on to have a successful solo career, releasing his debut album LP1 in 2019.
His hit single Strip That Down , co-written with Ed Sheeran, reached the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10.
Throughout his solo career, he worked with artists like J Balvin, French Montana, and Dixie D’Amelio.
Payne’s personal life often made headlines, especially his relationships.
He was previously engaged to model Maya Henry, but they split in 2022 after an on-again, off-again romance.
Before that, Payne was in a high-profile relationship with British pop star Cheryl Cole , with whom he shares a son, Bear Grey Payne, born in 2017.
Payne and Cole parted ways in 2018, but Payne remained a devoted father to Bear, frequently sharing posts about their bond.
As fans, friends, and family mourn his death, many are remembering Payne not only for his talent but for his kindness.
“He was always so supportive, even during difficult times,” said singer Max George, who also shared his sadness at the news of Payne’s passing.
