Gary Allan Herzberg was born and raised in La Miranda California in year 1967. His parents Harley and Mary were Mormon, it was his mother’s wish to salient the guitar in her home.
In the means of family music passion, Allan took music solemnly in his early years. He started to learn and play Honky Tonks from his father.
However, his parents wished him to complete his education and then start his music career. So, he rejected some of his starting offers to finish his studies.
Interestingly, he worked in bars at night and kept sleepless in school. Later on, after completing his graduation from high school in California, he created a band and kept working in pubs and bars at night.
The band was named The Honky Tonk Wranglers including Jake Kelly, Mike Fried, and others. Besides singing Allan also wrote songs from an early age.
In 1993, Hill Bryon, the producer wanted him to sign a contract with BNA Entertainment. Hill liked his style and vocals and gave him a chance to come to Nashville for further demonstration. Later, he became A&R head of BNA Entertainment.
After two years of joining Nashville, he released his debut album in 1995, Used Heart For Sale comprises the hit single Her Man , a prior solo single from Waylon Jennings . It was just starting off his career.
Allan’s second album It Would Be You including the video single No Judgment Day was released in 1998. The title track of the album counted as the top ten on the US Country Music Chart.
Additionally, Allan showed his talent in his acting career and acted in the mini-series Shake, Rattle, and Roll. In the TV series, he played the lead role. He also attended other TV series such as Pensacola and Wings of Gold .
Immediately, his third album Smoke Rings in the Dark was released in 1999, a platinum album consisting of side vocals of other singers, stringed instrumental sounds, and different themes.
The album threw two successful single tracks with its title track. Next, his fourth album Alright Guy was published, and some of the tracks reached no. 1 on the US Country Music Chart. He also presented some of the greatest hit singles Man of Me and The One .
The year 2003 was a good year for him, as he was selected for the CMA Award of Horizon. Till that time, he had completed eight successful years and released his new album See If I Care , including super singles Nothing on but the Radio, Tough Little Boys, and Songs About Rain. Few of the songs reached the top 15 on the Billboard Music chart .
In 2004, his third wife committed suicide; he was sucked into the situation. He released his heartfelt sad album Tough All Over .
The album comprises most of the songs written by Allan. The album peaked at no.1 on the Country Music Chart and gained a Gold certificate from the RIAA.
The co-writer Cyndi Thompson wrote the biggest hit including Life Ain’t Always Beautiful . Tough All Over also counted at no. 3 on the Billboard Country Music chart.
Furthermore, in the year 2007, he put more effort together with the singer David Lee Murphy, who co-wrote the album’s super hit A Feelin’ Like That . It was from his first greatest hits collection, consisting of Allan’s super hits from his previous work, and added two new singles.
The same year, 2007, was a lucky year for Allan. He released his new album Living Hard . The album comprises two hit singles Watching Airplanes and Learning How To Bend.
Both of the singles peaked at highest rank on the music charts. Allan also became popular by presenting live concerts on the songs from the album.
Later on, Allan worked on his new album Get Off On The Pain . The album’s second and third singles were the highest-ranked songs on the country music chart. Kiss Me When I Am Down and Today are the most popular ones in the year 2009.
If we talk about Set You Free and Ruthless, both were Allan’s most memorable works, released alternatively in the years 2013 and 2015.
Allan ’s work depends on thirty-two singles, ten albums with two compilation albums. His singing style is somewhat elegant with a raspy voice. RIAA has counted his four albums as Gold and three as Platinum certifications.

It might not be possible to show all of Allan’s journey in a single shot. His hard work and efforts are often considered amazing and cannot be counted.
Allan married thrice in his lifetime. First, he married Tracy Taylor in 1987 but they both divorced soon. Secondly, he joined in marriage with Danette Day, who was a beautiful model in 1998. But like the previous one, the couple divorced after a year.
Afterward, Gary tried and took another chance to tie the knot with Angela in 2001. Unfortunately, the woman attempted suicide in 2004, due to depression and anxiety. He has been engaged with Molly Martin since 2021.
