Unquestionably, she has great chemistry with Craig, and her action-scene physique is outstanding.
The Cradle of Life has Lara rushing against time to locate Pandora’s box before it ends in the wrong hands.
Jan De Bonttakes up directorial responsibilities; the movie has amazing set pieces and stuntwork.
One of the most heart-stopping sequences is Lara and Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler) free-falling from a Hong Kong building.
Alan Silvestri’s eerie and unforgettable soundtrack for the movie enhances the scale of the experience with foreign sites.
With less comedy and a better story, the film has a more somber attitude than its predecessor.
Unquestionably, Jolie and Butler have chemistry, and the supporting cast, including Til Schweiger and Djimon Hounsou gives the narrative complexity.
Jolie doesn’t grin as much in this movie, but she still makes Lara an engaging heroine, and the McGuffin, Pandora’s Box, is a clever and interesting story device.
The movie’s tempo is well-balanced and its themes of adventure, peril, and treachery are well handled.
Though, unfortunately, a third Tomb Raider movie starring Jolie as Lara Croft never came to be, both movies are interesting additions to the series.
